When I witnessed the diatribe and barbs my initial reaction was the nickname of Northampton Town FC. Was it Professor Plum, in the Library, with the who gives a sh!t! No big budget , and according to Parish, it must be someone that fits like a glove, knows and accepts how the club works. That sounds like another with some former links to the club .. Oooeerr!

Very doubtful he's even in contention for the job but Leonardo Jardim, the guy who led Monaco to a league title ahead of PSG, who oversaw Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy, Thomas Lemar etc and knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League, is available. If we're gonna go for an attacking manager, why not do it properly.

Can I ask how you know interviews weren’t carried out before 23 April? Edited by Spiderman (21 May 2021 7.55am) Because they wouldn't conduct an interview with Frank Lampard stating he is ready to return to management and then wait a month to release it?

It wouldn't surprise me if Lampard has turned the job down due to lack of a transfer budget. If we have no funds and we can't prise Dyche away from Burnley then maybe we should be looking at a Championship manager because that's the player pool we will be looking to dip into?
I'd suspect we already have a manager lined up as we did when Warnock and Pardew were planned departure. The replacements to both of them were announced in 24/48hours. Parish is going to wait until after the Liverpool game to announce who is coming in. Fans should note that we are currently looking to recruit for the best available managerial position in English football. We aren't shopping in the reject bin for the likes of George Burley. Those days are long behind us.

If the reports about Lampard are true then it could be that the injury to Eze has helped make his mind up and he isn't prepared to stake his reputation on the job. Also, if he's only just woken up to the fact that we could face a relegation battle next season he probably isn't the best person for the job anyway. As others pointed out, The Times reported Friday last week he was no longer being considered and they got the story regarding Roy's departure being announced right. Yes, perhaps this is the true story. The article that he has decided the job is not for him may have come from Lampard's press people. Bigging up the Championship to the Mail also works if there is a tempting offer on the table from the Baggies. Trevor Francis currently sitting by his phone waiting for that call...

That's part of the deal and the package. Hiring e.g. Benitez to work with Lewington could work but seems more likely to be a zany, unworkable double act. Best bring a team that has worked well elsewhere as it is not just about one man despite the best efforts of the media to individualize the job.
