I am not convinced Steve Parish would tolerate a full season of the kind of football we saw in the last 2 games. Defensive solidity is to be praised. Zero plan to attack i think will draw the chairman's ire.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

I go back to what I have already posted (I am sounding like Graeme Souness!), managers are not removed of their duties after 4 games purely on results. But there are always exceptions to the rule willo.

If tomorrow and the game after and the game after are repeats of the Brighton game then the Palace coaching team are so way off the mark it does not take football geniuses to understand we need a whole new management set up. A hard working team and the Macarther way is still important but we can normally get the ball back quite easily we need to make the other team work harder to get it back. Come on Palace repeat the way we played at United tomorrow.

I remember the centre back set up with the 19yr old untried Fosu-Mensah and Riedewald either side of Scott Dann against Huddersfield in the curtain raiser and a declining Puncheon in front of them. Never thought I'd be the kind of fan that wanted a manager sacked after one game but Parish gave him three more games than he deserved IMO. Messed things up at Inter before us and Atlanta after. Just watched the Leeds v Villa game. Leeds fans are lucky to have a manager/coaching team in Bielsa and co. They play like a top 4 team; fearless, ferocious attacking play combined with defensive solidity. I’ve thus far been a Hodgson fan. Over the last 3 years, he’s stabilised us, carried us through a period of time in which we’ve spent very little money and coached an ageing, injury stricken squad to be resolute and finely tuned according to the skill set. HOWEVER, failure to beat Fulham in a dominant manner without showing a significant attacking improvement in comparison to last week may well start to tip me over into the Hodgson OUT camp. I’m confused as I’m safe in the knowledge that he’ll keep us up but scared we might have another ‘de boer’ if we try and change our style. My mindset is changing though. Why should just keeping us up be good enough? Why can’t he get more out of our squad? We have dynamic talent combined with resolute, well-drilled defenders. We should be putting on an improved performance. Beat Fulham convincingly and all is forgiven.

There were some very bold predictions at the end of last season from fans on here about how good Tyrick Mitchell is and complaints that Roy can only play with three defensive midfield players. I don't like the last couple of performances but central midfield options who don't score goals, full backs who can't attack and a rotation of 30+ yr old centre backs doesn't help to get you playing in the opposition half. We have none. Our aging squad couldn't run down an old lady in a walker. That's the situation we're stuck in. I think too this is why Roy is so concerned with shape and playing a box-based style. We just aren't fast enough to recover if we make a mistake. That's likely not changing any time soon since the players, like me, are getting older every day. This is as always only my humble opinion.
Success will lie to you but failure always tells you the truth. |

Having watched Roy’s press conference from yesterday it would seem he’s either deluded or distorting events.

If we're so at risk, due to lack of pace, why not try a youngster or two? WTF are our youth team for?
