Today was bad but every season is up and down.

We rarely start the season well and I’m sure we all have our ideas about why, but the performances will pick up I’m sure of it.

So let’s all stop wetting the bed okay.

Too right, we'll be ok.

I can understand why people have got the hump though tbf

I remember thinking that the season Big Mal took us down (& down)

I have come to expect performances like that every now and then, although this was a particularly poor one even by our standards.

All players looked out of sorts. Luka still unable to pass a ball forwards, PVA still unsure who is in our team to pass to, Benteke stuck alone up front looking lost, Zaha not match fit yet and was double marked very well, Meyer in wrong position and weak on the ball, Jimmy Mac looking his age, Ward unable to put in any sort of cross and the centre halves looking very one paced and frightened to pass the ball more than 5 yards on the deck. In fact today no one stood out which is what worries me the most.

Roy needs to assess the team and have a rethink which is something he is not well known for.

If Sakho, Camarasa and Mcarthy are match fit then I would change the team to something like this:

Guaita

Ward Sakho Cahill Schlupp

Luka McCarthy

Camarasa

Zaha Wickham Townsend

Subs: Hennesey, Kelly, Meyer, PVA, Benteke, Kouyate, McArthur

My wife summed up the only positives when I arrived home in a foul mood.

“ relax John have a drink..no one died!...”

I really don’t understand why we constantly pick out individuals when we lose and blame them, if we don’t score it’s Tekkers fault if we concede we blame the GK & make comparisons or we blame PVA or Ward.

Come on let’s be serious this was no one individual today collectively as a team this was a shambles, there were no tactics no attacking threat and even when the subs came on still no game plan, I mean Wickham playing out on the Left.

It was an absolute joke yes Roy has to take a fair share of the blame but again signings were made too late, we still have not made the important signing in areas that each and every one of us knew needed filling.

We clearly have a player that does not want to be there and we have owners that unfortunately are now holding the club back and have taken us as far as they can.

However all that aside the performance today was totally embarrassing when you think how much those players earn they played a very poor UTD team today who made us look a bottom championship team let alone PL Team.

There are massive problems behind the scenes that is plainly obvious and not sure this season is going to end well.

You have to feel for Roy to some extent has never been supported financially and if it was not for his age probably would have walked by now due to lack of support.

Ask yourself why other managers have not stuck around and why AWB left so quick & why Zaha wants out cause there is no strategy or plan it’s just let’s fire fight to stay up and eventually this will bite us.

I am sorry but I can’t blame one or two players the whole thing is embarrassing and just not acceptable.

I think the terrier like approach that SU displayed today could also unsettle other teams although I suspect they will be more prepared and have a better strategy to deflect and conquer. Playing devil’s advocate they gave us no time on the ball and we were rusty and all over the place. No doubt we will improve.

Indeed but it is the realism once again that my weekend is going to be spoiled on a regular basis for the next 9 months

I agree we were a shambles and it is horrible to say it.

But this is why Roy needs to change the line up as a number of the players expect to be picked every week however they perform which is not a good thing for the team as a whole. He does need to shake it up a bit and if the new players are fit lets give them a go. It can't be any worse!

What gives you confidence that we will be OK this season ? Our form pre season ? Our activity in the transfer window ? The coaching staff ? The manager ? Our first 2 games ?

Agree with most of what you say. But if a couple of our players showed the others the way we would be better. Where’s the leaders ? Who’s shouting at the players, winding them up?
Lack of ability against Man City is acceptable. Lack of effort against Sheffield United (people calling them Sheffield is embarrassing) isn’t.

Pathetic, inept, gutless, no energy those players should be embarrassed to pick up their wages. Made Sheffield Utd look like a top team.
