Yes, there is a difference certainly.

However, abuse is abuse. I defend your right to offend, but I think it's fair to criticise profanity.

Upset by a bit of profanity? Snowflake.

In all honesty. I'm not really sure. But it seems he has more money than the Montenegro FA.

Fantastic.

If he really feels that badly, why put up with it for another 5 or six years? Leave now - you should have enough money behind you - and get a job doing something else - bricklaying, bus driving, lettuce picking, there's plenty to choose from!

Hardly.

If someone is going to swear at me or others using language like that then I or others will respond in kind.

The site would quickly turn into little else.

So there's a good argument against this.....though sites like that exist and there's a free speech absolutist argument for it if that's what people want.

The swearing obviously.

While you are right to say there is a difference. You are still abusing people with swearing because they differ from you. The fact that they can change or not isn't this massive all encompassing 'pass' that frees you from any criticism that perhaps you appear to think it is.

Oh I'm fine with criticism and I'm fine with swearing. Even being sworn at if I deserve it (I usually do).

I'm just not fine with racism. Or ignoring racism in the hope it will go away. Or people who incite hatred like yer boy Tommy.

I agree, we are all worthy of criticism. That said, you being an accountant and me having a history in teaching we are hardly rule breakers for the sake of it.

Robinson isn't into what you think of as 'racism' anyway. He's anti Islamic and I regard that regularly used charge against him as a conflation. Obviously I think what Robinson is doing is a net positive and you don't.

Insulting people related to their colour is no different from insulting them for being fat, bald, gay or ginger in my book.

You can't do much about any of those except for maybe the first one.
Society makes a big fuss about racial insults because of politics. It has a huge agenda behind it empowered by lobby groups and other self serving organisations.

I understand that Black people were considered inferior in the past and this relates to the resentment about racial slurs today, but how long are we going to use that excuse to treat Black people differently to anyone else? There has to come a time when we are all genuinely equal and equality works both ways.

Let's be clear. This doesn't make racial insults acceptable, but then, nor is any other insulting anti social behaviour.
There is also a double standards element. I often hear Black people insulting Whites in TV Drama and comedy and that is deemed acceptable. You can't have a double standard if you want to be taken seriously.

I do genuinely agree with pretty much all that and hope the bit in bold does come true sooner rather than later. I think i just really disagree that the 'ignore it and it will go away' approach will work unfortunately. I think people need to be called out and made to realise that It's Not OK.

I agree with you guys when you say the R word is banded about all too readily - especially on here (none of you are *that* bad ) but I think overtly racist behaviour like what happened in Montenegro, some of the stuff that's happened to Raheem Sterling etc. needs to be made a massive example of.

Yep, it's been a political decision to allow one form of insult.....and it is an insult....to be viewed dramatically higher than other forms.

'Racism' is apart of the human condition. Genuine racism where you will demonise and treat people badly purely based upon their race is not a positive.

However, this term has long been abused and now if someone states a preference they are accused of treating people badly....of being racist. It reduces the whole thing down to an childish situation where you have 'protected' classes of people....People who get different treatment because of a fear of offence......which is just another form of racism by different means.

Apparently the destruction of people's careers has somehow become valid because they might utter something others find offensive......It's a return to Salem's witch trials in many cases.

A whole industry has sprung up to push these narratives and agendas. An industry that ultimately the public is paying for when the law is there for fair treatment anyway.
