if we are honest, we all questioned his signing, and reacted to it with a “meh”

however, he is performing, and performing like the player who scored 15+ goals in the PL.

fair f***s to the guy, and long may it continue.

Was he though?
I’d have gone home if he had.

I think he was. The problem with Ayew is that he gives so much, not sure he can last 90 minutes (this is not a criticism)

Agreed. At 2.5 mil I thought he was good value as a squad member. I didn’t expect him to be our main striker. Well done so far for proving the majority wrong

I'm so happy that he's proved so many wrong. He was good last season, people just seemed to aimlessly fire criticism his way. Glad that his work rate and ability on the ball is now being added with goals, I think it's time a few had some humble pie.

Glad I didn’t coat him off and us route signing him permanently. He had uses last season but it was really when the game opened up out wide. Thing is he was played centrally with our lack of offensive play and he was weak as sh1t with his back. To defenders. When brought on it was too late and there was no space for him.

Well that’s all changed and the beauty of him is he has good pace over short distances and that’s perfect with some of the goings on at the back with some teams and chances that can be made and caused. Much better than having a lamppost upfront.

Humble pie?
Na mate. Last year I thought he was sh*t. This year he’s like a different player , best we have at the moment.
If a players form changes massively there’s no humble pie to be eaten, he was pony before, now he’s not.

When you watch him he looks knackered at the kick off and just loitering around the pitch.
An old fashioned striker like lineker or sheringham. He reads the game very well.
I guess he has trained himself to be a sprinter when needed so energy saving.
Good luck to the lad and taking on two centre backs today and scoring was fantastic.
Hes only going to get more aware with the style we can play.

Based on the last couple of games we’d be more likely to get £80 million for Ayew than Zaha!!!

But if you thought it was a decent buy after his form last year, you are either a liar or mad, no one would have wanted him and rightly so.
Same as everyone wanted Benteke from Liverpool , which has been proven wrong.

But he’s been our best player in every game he has played, good control, strong, quick and 2 decent finishes.
On current form our best player.
Happy that he got his name sang and clapping the fans when it was sung will only make him more popular.

At 2.5 million it looked a fantastic buy at the time and you will find plenty of people including myself saying so further back in this thread. He got through plenty of games last season and covered several positions and despite starting poorly, improved significantly.

On top of that he was already starting to look really good towards the end of last season and was closing down extremely well and relieving pressure on the team. All that’s changed is he has managed to add goals, apart from that these performances are a continuation of the decent form he was starting to find with us.

What has happened to Ayew?? I can’t believe the transformation. He is fitter stronger quicker. His ball control is great. He plays his heart out. Never gives up.
In the end they had to crock him to get him off.
His name was ringing round the stadium. He is an emotional lad. That will have meant so much to him. And fully deserved.
Just what we have all been wanting and it was on our doorstep. Keep working hard son. With the rub of the green could easily have had a hatrick.
