Simply as that: If someone wants him it's easy pay £60M.

I agree it’s not that easy to buy quality players. But wed have had change from £50 million for what we paid for Tompkins, Sakho and the new keeper.

I really don't want to lose AWB but if someone offers the price we have stated and given that the rumour is he wants to go, then I don't think we could turn the deal down. My only worry is what sort of message this sends to Wilf? If someone did then offer the asking price for Wilf we could be faced with losing both of them and if we sell AWB but tell Wilf he can't go we risk having a very unhappy player on our hands. Personally I hope Utd don't increase their offer and we keep them both.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

As explained before, the net transfer spend was £40m but only about £10 of that would have been recognised in those accounts as the value is ammortised over the duration of a contract. We are not running at a profit and are being propped up by director loans. Yep. He did mention us still paying for previous transfers. But they are not small suns. We’re talking about Benteke and Sakho. Crippling us.

It could really mess Wilf’s head up thinking he’s been here so long and AWB has gone at the right time and succeeded.

A figure of speech. Firstly, we will not go into administration. Second, you will not improve the first eleven with 50 million unless you spend it on one player, a striker.

I am now tired of saying that all the money in the world is useless if you can't attract players who are better than your first eleven.

I am now tired of saying that all the money in the world is useless if you can't attract players who are better than your first eleven. Every club has to do this apart from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Man City, especially anyone outside of the big 6. The last big fee player we sold in his prime was Bolasie. Murray doesn’t count because of age and a bad opinion made on his ability then and in the future. I’d be more concerned if we sold Sakho tbh. We missed him a lot when he was out, and because we were so lacking in ideas of who to buy instead of Sakho and Freedman I’m far from convinced with, I dread to think who Sakho’s replacement might be. Losing our best ever right back isn’t great news but it’s a very manageable decision and one that can be for the bigger picture and actually improve more parts on the pitch. This has been going on and inevitable for decades. It doesn’t change now because of Prem money and the competition being even fiercer in it.
