Genuine question. Struggling to think of anything.

I'll take any successes she had as Home Secretary.

Her failings are many and clear it seems and chickens are now coming home to roost on her and the rest of her government's record.

Sadly:
a) I can't disagree
b) I can't see any way the current opposition would be any better

Maybe it's time for a Macron style new party?

I see May et al are doing well on their deficit reduction plan and those cuts in corporation tax are having the desired effect on receipts.

Can you expand on this sarcasm?

Figures out today show worsening deficit (and worse than expected) and lower (and lower than expected) corporation tax receipts as national debt creeps ever closer to 90% of GDP. This added to fall in real wages and living standards and the news of further announcements of bank job losses as operations are moved out of the UK.

The analysis is that this will make the upcoming budget less promising than perhaps previously expected and it will be a case of more medicine to make us sicker. It's a bit like Munchausen by Proxy.

Well it can define strong correlations to investigate I believe.

I'm no longer sure that political parties actually do anything better, just differently in a way that appeals to their voters.

In the end I suspect few of them actually achieve anything approaching an objective good.

Methinks you don't have a counter argument to this hence the shutdown response.
Standard.

Nope Nick, policy comes under environment and being accurate isn't making a 'shutdown response'.

If you like but that makes your first statement wrong. The figures quoted for life expectancy are mortality rate as they include death from all causes including malaria.

He is. He's refusing to accept government policy could have been in someway responsible for the plateau and drop in longevity.

Dunno, however epidemiological studies, such as those based in economic analysis, can demonstrate relationships of significance between two or more related phenomena.

For example, there is no absolute proof that smoking causes lung cancer, however there is an incredibly strong correlation between certain lung cancers, smokers and certain carcinogens, that are present in cigs.

So, yes, you can use an economics based analysis to show strong correlation between different factors that might appear at first to be unrelated.
