Something just doesn't feel right about this situation...i think something is gonna happen with ca and palace. Newcastle are on the decline but are a bigger club, villa are a bigger club than palace...but we as palace have ambition and direction which these other 2 clubs are lacking...i also think sp is acting rather cute by publicly saying "we r deffo interested in ca but other bigger clubs are too so he may swerve a move to us" that quote will be remembered should we land ca

Agreed, they are both bigger clubs and presumably offer bigger wages but in footballing terms we must easily be the most attractive option of the three. Newcastle have been in disarray for a few seasons now and the fans are constantly protesting. Villa are potentially going to have lost their best three players in Benteke, Delph and Vlaar and at the moment I can't see them staying up.

and lerner is trying to sell so he isn't going to spend on new players. any AV fan should be very frightened of relegation.

Pretty certain Villa have spent almost £25 mil this window, £10 on Amavi, £9 on Gueye and Sinclair must have been a few million, plus Richards wages.

Not saying they won't be down there, but Lerner is still spending.

Yeah admittedly they have spent some money but I just feel that until Benteke came back from injury last year they were looking done and dusted and when you add in Delph and Vlaar, that's the spine of their team, not easy to replace even by spending that much money. Maybe Sherwood will get them playing well but unless they bring in someone to replace Benteke's goals, ironically Austin could probably do it, then I feel they'll have a long, hard season.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

My guess (for whatever its worth!) that AV will offer big money for Austin

Can see Austin ending up at Villa. Historically they have top strikers who are hero worshipped and then end up moving onto a top club after a few good seasons for even bigger money. This will appeal to Austin at this point in his career.

This is where poker player Parish plays his hand.

Rangers want Adlene so we chuck in maybe Bannan

and Campbell plus cash.

Austin wants to stay in London.

don't see why he would want to go to a club in decline

rather than a club on the up like ours.

i actually think sherwood will go for Adebyor.

Agree with all of this. What I read into Parish's interview the other night was simply confirmation that we'd like Austin. The rest ("don't think we'll get him," "will go to a bigger club," sounded very much like a negotiating smokescreen to me. Fact is, McCarthy deal is done so there is a communications channel open between the two clubs and we have a lot of assets we don't need that would be very valuable to QPR (starting with Guediora.) This is almost so logical (a deal that could significantly benefit both clubs and players) that it's hard to find reasons for it not to happen (which is probably the one reason why it won't). Austin's arrival would not surprise me at all, although that is not to say I expect it.

I reckon the 'big club' could be Spurs. They've only got Kane and need another striker

I can't imagine that Kane and Austin would be partnered together though.

they don't get on that well, no...

What has/is happening to QPR and the massive fine they were facing? Perhaps teams are waiting for s*** to hit the fan at Loftus rd as they may becone desperate for cash.
