Well Done Alex Yee, Gold Medal Winner.

15secs behind in 2nd, 3rd catching hand over fist, last 100m strong surge, overtakes the leader, finishes 6secs ahead.

Well done Alex - a Lewisham lad. I'm sure he supports the appropriate team.

Yes, one of our own Alex Yee has won gold, I saw a picture of him when he was a youngster in a Palace kit, so, I assume he supports the mighty Crystal Palace. Some good news for a change, very well done Alex Yee, and congratulations.

I don't know why this made me think of the equivalent of Oscar Pistorius but in boxing. Lost half an arm but had it replaced with a solid titanium one with springs and a boxing glove.

Or was this a latent memory from your days reading the 'Johnny Cougar' stories in 'Tiger'? Johnny's opponents in the wrestling ring got more and more outlandish and I'm sure there was a 'bionic' man or two somewhere along the way.

I live my life by the values of 'Warlord' and 'Victor' - and see no convincing reason to change.
However, one does wonder about the Olympics of the future. Like doing the marathon in a speedboat because you're "land phobic" or something. Boxing will be giant robots duking it out for our pleasure. No one will get hurt - except the odd but of collateral damage.
I also think it would be great if they could take as much perfuming enhancing stuff as possible. One of the events could even be coked up shooting or something like that. Meth volleyball.
One thing is for certain, something will have to done about the gender soon enough. They'll have to just mix events somehow as everyone is going to be some kind of gender other than male or female. Or have around fifty different gender categories for events. And, let's face it, fifty will not be enough. Someone will be underrepresented or excluded.

Or they could just cancel the Olympics altogether and save everyone a lot of money, time and effort.

On those criteria, why not cancel the Premier League too?
