My prediction is that this guy will be a regular Premiership player, it's just which club it's with. I tend to agree. I know plenty of others do too. Obviously Southampton too - and, let's face it, they've been far, far better than us with young talent. Southampton sniffing around should really give us quite a big clue.

I believe JRS has 3 years left on his contract. He seems to want PL football now but has either been told or believes he's down the pecking order at Palace. The fact that he hasn't travelled to the States could mean he's going to be sold but equally it could simply mean that he has been earmarked for a loan out and it's therefore pointless including him in further friendlies. I suspect (just my opinion) that he wants out permanently to Southampton where he may have been told he'll be a regular starter. If he does want out, then as long as the fee is at least the £12m touted on the click bait sites and there's a decent sell-on clause then goodbye and we move on.

My issue is partly his physicality, but he also seems to be on the periphery a lot of the time. He is a very composed finisher, which is a big positive and he looked great in League One at times. It is always so hard to see which way it will go with wingers as so many show promise and then flop. My view is probably unfair as with us it's largely based on friendlies and a handful of cameos.

Attacking wingers need teams that have the ball enough to utilize their threat. In defensive teams they can be lost to the game and be ineffective. In other teams they are gold dust. From what I've seen of the guy it's clear he has attacking ability and will only get better. How much better is the million dollar question...That comes down to how good an eye and knowledge your decision makers have on what is required......it's a far better problem to have than not.

I think it's 50/50 with Southampton. He definitely wants games now.....them or a full loan. Edited by Stirlingsays (31 Jul 2024 3.45pm)

I see the that JRS has decided to stay in England rather go the pre season in the US. I can only think that he wants in one form or another (especially as there has been interest from Leeds and Southampton). I suspect he wants to goto Southampton given it's PL football He needs to be careful of jumping ship too soon, as we have seen previously (ie. John Bostock and Ashley Paul Robinson - remember him). He has one good season in League 1, he has yet to show he can consistently perform in the championship let alone the premier league. Granted he definitely should have gone on loan to a championship side last season, and that was one of many mistakes at that point. But he would be well advised not to get petulant because other clubs are interested.

I agree 100% on this, Has all the markings of Bostock, and not wanting to go to USA seems to be trying to force a move,

I have some sympathy for JRS. If he stays with us he will probably go on loan to the Championship. Southampton it would appear are offering him first team PL football. Given the choice I know what I would take.

I agree, this is a very fair appraisal of the situation with JRS. I also think we have been a little unfair in holding him back he should have gone out on loan again instead of warming the bench with no real match time to improve his game craft. I also do not think that he is anywhere near EPL standard at this time and he may well end up a very good championship level player in the future and earn a very good living at that level. Time will tell, in the meantime sell on and take the cash!
