He didn't thrive as when Spurs reached the league Cup Final at Wembley he wasn't even picked, and after that he missed a complete season with a groin injury. Had a few good games early on but faded.

a little harsh as he had terrible injuries at Spurs. After a slow start he scored frequently in his first season or two at Spurs and formed a lethal partnership with Teddy Sheringham.
Injuries then severely disrupted his progress, hence why he missed out on the league cup final starting XI. I remember the then manager, Gerry Francis, listed Armstrong as his best signing.

I do agree that Spurs is generally not a good choice for Palace players though.

Clearly unsettled Routledge for about a year before he did move and then after breaking his foot on his debut never gave him a chance. Bostock was a similar story

Guehi has apparently raised his colours which either means he wants to "improve" to a big club, or else he wants a pay rise to £100k p/w plus.

He has been closely connected to Spurs. Make of that what you will.

Otherwise, if you believe the online stuff, it's Wharton as "top priority" for Man City (assuming they remain a premier league team?) with Bayern Munich probably out bid (did they even enquire?); Eze to Spurs, Man Utd or Liverpool; I think one of the large continentals "want" Mateta (PSG?); Newcastle are occasionally mentioned in connection with one of our gems; and every top 6 club and continental giant is apparently engaged in a bidding war for Olise with a daily update spelling out in complete made up guess work which one is currently "best placed".

As a post script, the news has altered a little. The trend appears to have shifted to some reporting that the big clubs are finding "better" alternatives to Olise et al, or that those clubs could do better etc.

Make of that what you will.

I think if Eze has a stand out Euros one of the big boys will come in and put money on the table nobody is going to refuse and we say good luck and thanks .

On the other hand if we don't see much of him but the odd ten minutes and everything is a bit flat as far as England are concerned (likely) then he will probably be our player next season

Eze has the same agent as Son, Maddison and the manager Postecoglou, sounds like a proper Spurs love-in , Agents also have a box at Spurs where it’s being reported that Eze and his family used for the North London Derby , I know we will lose him eventually but to Spurs , honestly he deserves better then that

God saves all but Mateta nets the rebounds !

Small club mentality.

No club ever achieved anything by selling it best players.
You don't just find an Eze or Olise every day. This club can go somewhere with players like them.

Who will want to come to a club with no ambition on the field?

Money is not enough.

Anyone going to Spurs needs their head examined.
Same with ManU at the moment.
Chelsea are in constant shambles.
Liverpool are an unknown under Slot, but could be regarded as 'appealing'.
ManCity and Arsenal are the only 2 'big six' clubs who players should consider joining, 2 clubs with stability and a plan (at the moment), and look like they'll have the possibility of domestic and european success.

If people are looking at Eze's Euro performances, then I fear they will be dissapointed. If and when he gets on the pitch, it'll be on the Left - not his favoured position. You saw in the B&H game that he was most effective when he drifted infield. He'll try his hardest, but won't be used how he should be (centrally in Foden and JBs position).

"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one"

I agree, but hard to blame anyone for that thought inertia given how long we have swam in the small pool.

But the money? Take Eze. Currently on £100k pw. Buy him and pay him £300k pw plus greater sponsorship and other add-ons. That is at least an additional £10m plus a year (gross) he can further enrich himself, his whole extended family, his church and innumerable charities. That is a lot to turn down.

And top young players will queue to join if they have the genuine chance of making that "progression".

I think fans are looking at this from their personal desire to see those players stay. Their arguments reflect more their wishes than any fiscal reality. None more than me...

Personally, I think all our gems would prefer to stay, even on less money, to be part of what is bubbling under, but would you really blame them if they didn't?

Which is quite funny given Eze confirmed in a recent interview he was an Arsenal fan growing up!

I'm not sure that's true. And in fact the opposite.

We need to balance all the factors, there will always be the right price and right time to sell. I bet Villa fans were cursing the board when they sold Grealish, but look at what's happened since!

Eze or Olise are great, but lets not pretend they are the only players in the world. Both performed well in the Championship, we took a punt on both, and its taken Eze 5 years and Olise 3 to get to this level.

Who would want to come? Another young Championship gem, who knows that if he develops, he has a chance of getting into the England team, and get a move to a TOP team.

I would blame the club for not giving them a pay rise.

They may have a reputation for hard negotiators, but pay pretty well. Half a dozen on their roster earn more than he does currently and he would probably demand, at a minimum, Maddison's salary (170,000) as he was the one who made the England squad.

TBH, I do not see him as a great fit. He either needs to play as a sole No. 10, which is Maddison's position, or as a joint No. 10 like at Palace where you ideally have a Mateta type figure up front which Spurs currently lack. If they stick him on the wing it's a lose-lose for both team and player

I think this is bang on the money. He'd surely be competing against Maddison who will be out next season to prove a point and show the form he did in the early part of last season.
