What old? So what are you now, even older? I'm actually somewhat younger. In my fifties I'm the youngster on here. It was just a Cat Stevens ruse.

I remember Ian Evan’s leg snapping after Best’s horrific challenge & the crowd stunned into silence. The Burnley game coming on the bus from Brixton drinking large cans of Fosters after a day’s hard graft as apprentice bricklayer. Wrexham on a Tuesday night the euphoria of us going two nil up then being pegged back to two each and the fella in front of us praying, must have been a good catholic boy, walking over the bridge back to the train in full voice. Leeds away, Sunderland away Chelsea with the kung fu kick & the disappointment of the Southampton game where they kicked the sh-t out of Taylor. So many more memories that bring me the joy & pain that comes with the Palace.

Great post and let's enjoy our current form for as long as it continues. I remember Leicester were nearly relegated the season before they won the league but went on a similar run to ours that enabled them to stay up ... just saying.

Let's get some silverware. I'd be ecstatic with the Carabao Cup - let alone the league.

Started to support Palace in 1969. Prior to that I had watched Sutton Utd at Gander Green Lane. Used to attend home games on my own from the age of 12. The adults in the crowd were always kind and I always felt safe. Moved away in the mid seventies but my love for Palace has never died despite not getting to watch them very often. I had friends who got me tickets for various away fixtures - including a memorable game at Burnley where i was lucky enough to have a comfy seat in the Directors box and had to pretend i had a nervous tic when Palace scored! I will be 67 this year and probably more excited by our manager, squad and prospects than ever! Praying we can hold on to our star players and build on the last few games. Its always a roller coaster but the dream never dies!!
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

It’s always a roller coaster but the dream never dies!! I think historically there lies our problem, with the great teams of the late 70’s and early 90’s all the excitement and promise we had for the future collapsed with the sale of one player in each case, once Kenny Sansom and Ian Wright left on both occasions you could sense the beginning of the end of those great little era’s. Times have changed I know, but once one of your best players leave, the rest can become restless fearing a lack of ambition
