Who would have put these two words together a year ago? Antisemitism has been a trope of the right for longer than I've been around. And who and where are the "left" who are antisemitic? Are all leftists antisemites? What is a leftist? Am I?

What's going on?

I was fully prepared to believe that claims of antisemitism in the Labour Party were politically motivated. However, the evidence based on recent events suggests that there is a trend of those clearly on the left of politics to be pro Muslim and anti Israel.
Now you can't reasonably call objections to Israel's behaviour antisemitic, but the scenes on London streets suggests that Jews are a now target for abuse from the new far left/Muslim alliance because of Gaza. The resentment obviously goes beyond that from Muslims and, I suspect, from the left as well for different reasons.

In the current climate, I'd imagine that the patriotic right would be buddying up to the Jews of Britain whom I would guess would be seen as aligned to Western, and more importantly, British ideals.

Everywhere is legal unless there have been restrictions, usually temporary because of specific events, in place. Restrictions designed to ensure safety for everyone. You cannot go in anyone’s private spaces though and if the police believe it’s necessary to define temporary no go areas so they can handle things safely then they must do so.

That applies to everyone, whatever group they think they fit into.

Some would describe the “patriotic white working class” in very different terms. No doubt Yaxley-Lennon feels he belongs there which says enough.

So you are saying that Jews can't go to London at the weekend because of 'restrictions'.

Thank you Heir Wisbech.

You spend your days in an imaginary struggle with right wing evil and yet you are happy to see the movements of Jews restricted so that Muslims can dominate our capital.

You need to retire your wooden stake and crucifix and take up fishing.

I don’t use the BBS.

A Jewish person can walk as freely as the next person. What no one can do is behave in a manner which the police believe could result in a breech of the peace.

From House of Commons debate:

Since 7 October, Auschwitz-Birkenau has been called an “embarrassment to humanity”. “Heil Hitler” has been shouted at Jewish students in the UK. Protests have included shouts to “burn the Jews” on the streets of London. The hats of Jewish men have been thrown off them in our capital, and menorahs have been attacked. We have seen threats from a professor to blow up the Jewish Labour Movement conference. University societies have championed “the resistance”, glorified Palestinian “martyrs” and denied the murder and rape of Israelis at Nova music festival. Synagogues have been targeted and threatened, Jewish schools have been attacked, and Jewish businesses have been vandalised.

In Bristol, “Free Palestine” was shouted at visibly Jewish men walking to a Sabbath lunch. In Leeds, a Jewish university footballer was called a “big nose Jew” by a member of the opposing team. In Manchester, a Jewish school was sent a letter saying

“warning your school is being targeted, No one is safe, no one should support killers, Palestine forever”.

In London, the Wiener Holocaust Library, a great organisation named after Lord Finkelstein’s grandfather, who escaped the Nazis, had “Gaza” spray-painted on its sign. In my area of the west midlands, a swastika was painted on a bridge, and a curry house announced its full support of Hamas. I thank West Midlands police for its support over the last few days in dealing with localised incidents incredibly fast.

That is by no means an exhaustive list; rather it is just a small insight to the Jewish experience in Britain over the last few months. Dr Dave Rich of the Community Security Trust describes antisemitism as a

Across the UK, in the days following Hamas’s barbaric massacre on 7 October to 13 December, the Community Security Trust recorded 2,098 antisemitic incidents. That figure is expected to rise and 2023 is expected to be the year in which the highest ever number of antisemitic incidents was recorded in the UK. The figure of 2,098 dwarfed the 800 or so incidents recorded up until 7 October and was the highest ever number reported to the CST across any similar period, even during other conflicts in the middle east. To clarify, that is 2,098 incidents of antisemitism as a result of a massacre of innocent Jewish men, women and children in Israel. The impact of this is massive and should not be underestimated.

Fantastic that TR was not charged and the judge threw out the case. How did the CPS even think this was a good use of our money. One police report which was scrutinised was blamed on their being dyslexic. Ffs you couldn’t make it up.

That is a reasonable post save the bit highlighted.

The hard far left were always a different side to the same coin as the hard far right. The Red Army were no lover of Jews or other minorities when they fought the NAZIs. This much is likely.

The incidents of antisemitism are, I suspect, 90% committed by young, male Muslims. The issue is the media which can't say that because of allegations of islamophobia.

Anyhow, I would be amazed if there were any incidents of antisemitism that didn't come from those two sources.

If it were so.

Closer to the uncomfortable truth is that....a majority of the academics and leaders from that community have been supporting the very anti British/western minorities that now are attacking them.

Of course I say this in full recognition and praise of those Jews who regard themselves as men and women of the west and who also fight against this madness.

The so called far left and right are far more honest about the real political situations abound within their states.....they just normally feel differently about those situations....though on some they agree.

As you no doubt appreciate the establishment always sees itself as centralist because they want to protect the status quo...in some instances their own ill gotten gains.....Anyway regardless of how others regard it...No administration be it Iranian or US sees itself as extreme....they see their opposites as extreme.

The relative silence from the mainstream media was....I must admit quite enjoyable.

They really don't like taking the L.

The Jews have always been for the Jews, and in reality there is clearly no political consensus among their number.

For the right generally, it is a question of the lesser of two evils, I'd guess.

Well thank you your enormity.

I'm sure that young male Muslims are largely responsible for action against Jews, but this is probably because the young far left are too busy gluing themselves to roads and slicing up paintings. They need to get back home in time for campus happy hour.

Seriously. There is usually no smoke without fire.

Being a minority they vote majority left but your view is pretty much how I feel about it as well.

Their best future bet would be as right wingers in Europe keeping other minorities to a minimum, but pathologically they can't get over that Austrian painter....so most of them end up metaphorically cutting their own nose to spite their face....crapping in their own bed as it were.

Israel itself is a high risk bet.....they have to either expand to a greater Israel and be an ethnostate or accept that they are going to lose their country....outbred and then hunted.

The left have egalitarianism and anti nationalism as their core so they can bribe as much as they like ultimately that base will always be against them.

And Islam doesn't forget nor forgive....just like many of them it seems.

I understand why Israel are doing what they are doing.....But it's morally undefendable.

The intractable of intractables.

Morality is in very short supply. Ironic for peoples whose identity is largely determined by religious doctrine.
