Cole Palmer at 40m now looks a snip

West Ham were in the process of signing him, but stolen off them by Chelsea. What comes around goes around!

Any news on the knock he went off with, can’t find anything. Very much hope it’s not another long’ish term injury.

He's available for Newcastle game, apparently. Holding is injured again, though.

If we hang onto Eze and Olise, then by the end of next eason we could have approaching £500m of talent in our squad, especially if Dougie keeps unearthing these gems.
The Wharton kid will be 10-15% of that.
Onwards and upwards

I think Munoz was perhaps more of a bargain and it seemed no one was aware of him. Apparently, the fee might have been as low as £6 million. Wharton is undoubtedly a real talent and in a few years he could be playing at the top, but let's not get too carried away, he's not the finished article yet. My daughter likes to point out that he looks like Sam Johnstone's kid!

Feel a chant coming on Adam Johnson's magic he wears the magic hat

Actually think he could possibly be bargain of the decade! Really impressed, surely a future England star. Rate him as good if not better than Cabaye.

This young lad is a serious football player. What a player we have on our hands.

No, as good a player as he is, £20M for a player from the Championship is not the ‘bargain of the season’.

Maybe not a bargain but a contender for buy of the season.

Wharton is so good it's mind boggling that no one else beat us to getting him. He's great on the ball, great with a pass, great at anticipating and breaking up passes. His shot is even pretty good. And he's so young. Great business by DF. It will just be a matter of how long we can keep him.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

Yes, that’s more like it.

Also great for future recruitment

The next set of high potential stars from the Championship will look at the big clubs knocking on Palace's door for Eze, Olise and in a year or two Wharton and see that coming to a club to actually play rather than sit about the training ground or get loaned out who knows where is the best option.

They get the opportunity to gain experience to play in the Premier League. If they are good enough they might get the 'dream' move and Palace will pick up the profit which we need for the ground, financial fair play and the next player.

Only works if the recruitment is great though. Freedman has done very well.

Sometimes you see a young player and know instantly that they are special.
I felt the same when I saw Kenny Sansom all those years ago.
This will sound controversial, but to me he has more potential than Olise abd Eze (even if he may not be as eye catching).
He's very consistent and almost invariably makes the right decisions on the field whether it's passing, positioning or intercepting.
My one concern would be injury.
He leaves his leg exposed when tackling and it only takes one mistimed tackle to cause him a nasty injury.
