I did, obviously, you didn't.

So which part of Lombardy in 1933 was hard for you to understand?

What part of "a UFO never crashed in Roswell in 1933" do YOU find hard to understand?

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

another story which is less of incorrect and more of the old political Propaganda.

Josef Stalin used to like wandering around wearing a military Uniform. The Generalissimo, the supreme military commander.

In reality, the Young Stalin seems to have been cowardly in the face of street gun battles. He 'supervised' a bank robbery from the comfort of a faraway train station, in preparation for scarpering when all went wrong. It is highly likely that Stalin himself never fired a shot in anger and might have even been afraid of guns.

Later on, his decision-making prior to WWII was ramshackle and dodgy in the extreme. Liquidating the entire military officer class shortly before Hitlers hostilities. Also Stalin ignored a ton of military intelligence pointing at a commencement of Operation Barbarossa. Whereas Hitler, Napoleon, Churchill & JFK had all served in the military....Uncle Joe had zero military qualifications or experience.

The Soviet people were fed an Erronous History Story for decades.

British propaganda from WW2, Eating Carrots lets you see in the Dark

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

It was a railway intersection, nothing more. Certainly nothing to justify the carpet bombing of a beautiful medieval city.

The whole day and night thing had relatively limited military success, save the number of men diverted to the anti aircraft batteries. The rest just heaped more misery on non combatants and the slave labour forced to clear it all up.

Regarding the Ira's motivations, the Belfast Telegraph ran a story that I will not repeat on here. Nor will I mention the various Internet rumours that you can easily find yourself.

The truth, will probably never be known.

"El Cid liberated Spain from the Moors"

a) he was a mercenary who fought for both sides

b) he himself seems to have been a Moor

--------------------------

similar to Brian Boru who "liberated Ireland from the Vikings" ( ahem, by using a mercenary Viking army ).

The whole 'British Empire was a Colonial Devil' narrative that anyone under the age of 35 seems to trot out nowadays.

The generally held notion seems to be we loaded up a fleet of Navy ships, sailed over to India in record time (pre Suez canal, natch)jumped out as soon as we dropped anchor and started raping, pillaging and shooting everything in sight! Stuck a flag in - it's ours!

Hundreds of yeears of trade and cultural exchange in the tribal states of the sub-continent, long before 'India' ever existed are wholly ignored with this dumb, revisionist and culturally biased narrative.

What have the Romans ever done for us ?

South Africa was very sparsely populated by a small tribal people.

Then the Dutch arrived and cultivated it.

Much later, the Zulus and Kwasi and other tribes moved south.

Then the British arrived who were brutal, wanted it primarily to protect trade routes around the cape, and who brought Asian labour.

So, when you hear references to "indigenous" (black) people fighting the colonial (white) oppressors, they may have a point against us, but not the Afrikaner. They were there first.

Many still seem to believe that ....

a) Roman Britannia was Latin speaking. It wasn't , no more than Parts of Africa today owned by China thus are Chinese speaking.

b) that the Anglo-Saxon invasion only really got going AFTER the Legions of Honorius had left these shores.

both incorrect. Most of Britannia spoke something like Welsh, and Kent & Londinium were already speaking a hybrid Proto-Englysh.

I'm not sure if this falls entirely within the same bracket but I was once led to believe (by somebody who knew their stuff) that Niccolo Machiavelli was ironically almost the opposite to what is regarded as being a 'Machiavellian' individual...
