I am massively surprised at how good JP now is. I know he was never given a decent run in the team but how did he not show any of this talent in training to take Edouards place under Roy?

He is due a new contract soon and I’d say a big pay rise.

26 years old and in his prime. There will be no need to spend big money on a striker this summer.

Father Ken...beginning to wish he hadn’t said that.....if he keeps playing well he could force himself into the French squad for the Euros.. they have nobody like him....

Because we have changed our style of play (thank god) this would and will assist any striker. JP IMO is now showing his full potential, if he remains and has a good season coming his worth will increase greatly, plus he will be IMO a very important part of our new style of high pressing. OG is a huge breath of fresh air for me, COYP !!!!!

To be fair most fans were saying similar at the time.
For me it is clear failure of Hodgdon's use of Mateta.
He left him isolated with no other Palace player within 30 yards of him and expected him to battle alone against a back 4 with balls often hit at head height (not Mateta's strength).
Rarely did Mateta receive passes in behind or across the penalty area (Mateta's strengths).
If you want players to thrive play to their strengths.

RH was great for us but way way behind the modern game, stuck in his ways it would be difficult with his style for any player to shine!!

And when he did get them 9 out of 10 he was off side , someone must have been working with him on the off side rule it has vastly improved also .

Currently, it really looks like that - although I don't think many of us want to speak too ill of Roy. I hope he's doing well. Noticed Ray was at the match - wonder what he was thinking? I bet he was thinking "how are they so much better' or "where did I leave my shorts?".

Any striker in their 20s who can score 10 goals for a bottom 14 team in the Premier League starts at £35m.

Evidence for that -

The ridiculous quotes for Nketiah
Cameron Archer going for £18m with no record of note
£30m for Joao Pedro who has 11 in 59 PL games and 20 in 73 in the Championship
£32m for Nicolas Jackson who got 12 in 35 in La Liga
£23m for Beto who got 10 in 33 in Serie A

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

Roy treated Mateta in the same manner he treated Sorloth, now one of La Liga’s highest scorers and equal to Jude Bellingham who cost £89m. In Roy leaving we dodged a bullet as Mateta stays and the team benefits. If he can continue this into next season then his value will increase to over £30m. However, this depends on the quality of assists and if Eze and Olise leave who will provide them?

Mateta's on a great run of form, which for me puts his market Value at about 20-25m. (he's worth a lot more to us at the Moment) Should he have a full season at his current level, I'd expect that number to double.

A continuation of Mateta's current form through 24/25 would bag him over 30 goals next season. He'd be worth more than £50 million in that unlikely scenario. And we'd be in Europe.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.
