Ah yeah that's true. My bad. Still, the main point is that we should anticipate his leaving, and plan accordingly.

One question as we survive another year is: What does a good season for the club look like?

Does it mean (pragmatically)?

A Top 10 finish
A decent cup run
Do the double over Brighton
Greatly improve GF and GA stats? i.e bed-in a striker who can score 20+; build a miserly defence

???

(separately) Improve off the field matters. Sales, Recruitment. Infrastructure, stadium plans?

I wonder what achievable metrics can be set and how expectations can be managed given the strife this season, directed at Roy, owners and players?
I hope we don't have too many of the bannermen next season.

.

by the time we get a stadium as good as Goodison Park, those feckers will have moved into something commensurate with Arsenal/Spurs.

in another ten years, Selhurst will be League One standard. All the other clubs in the Land are upgrading.

I've looked at the next few fixtures for both Luton and ourselves and it is quite conceivable that we will be just four points ahead of Luton on the 21st of April. That is assuming we manage to claim a point against West Ham that weekend.

Edit: In fact make that three points. Luton have Bournemouth at home and their winning run has to end sometime, and Brentford at home too.

the Link below is about teams surviving on low points. If we cannot achieve that then we really do not deserve the sympathy of anybody.
Both Everton & Forest got points deductions. Sheffield & Burnley are dire.

its an easy season for survival, in statistical terms.

as mentioned in the OP, we WILL survive. Really we need a major overhaul of everything over the summer.

I can’t see Luton getting more than 7 points from their last 7 games.
So we should be ok.

Luton have just beaten Bournemouth and they are 3 points closer to us.
We are making it unnecessarily difficult for ourselves with only 2 points achieved v Luton, Forest and Bournemouth.
Next we face Liverpool and and in form West Ham.
We should be ok but stranger things have happened (I’m old enough to remember Oldham).

I hope we will be OK, but its going to be tight, 5 Points above the drop, for the first time in years I am worried.

But cant be down we have to get behind the boys and trust in our players and management

You only need to remember Charlton. We are and remain the only team to ever be relegated from the top division who were not in a relegation place before the final game. The alarm bells should be deafening us.

Luton have home games to come v Brentford, Everton and Fulham and way games v West Ham and Wolves.
That is a much less onerous run in than ours.
They would have to demonstrate winning form they have not demonstrated all season, but they play with great spirit.
I could see them getting 7 or 8 points which would mean we would need another 4 to stay above them.
I know it’s a futile exercise because results never turn out quite as you expect, but I can’t help myself!

We have to be matematically save entering the last round. They play Fulham @ home who are somewhere in mid-table with nothing to play for. Nottingham in Burnley. We play Villa and when nerves come in ....

I'm literally praying that we stay up. I promise to go to church/mosque/temple - whichever is the correct God - should we stay up.
