Out of curiosity, does anyone know exactly what happened to Roy on the training pitch and then what the hospital said was wrong with him?
I am assuming it was nearly all derived from stress, but it would be good to know.
Whatever it was, I hope he is making a good recovery and is convalescing well at home.

I don't but I have read that the hospital staff didn't come to any firm conclusions as to why he fell ill before the Villa game last September, which frustrated Roy, who, naturally, wanted to know what had caused his sudden illness then..

I just hope that he realises that the ire directed toward him was simply a unhappiness with his tactics, And not at him; the man.

He's been a wonderful manager in his time - not least during 2 difficult periods with us, but also with a host of other clubs throughout his career. A neverending gent and palace legend.

I wish him all the best for whatever his future holds.

But when phrases like "stubborn old dinosaur" are being hurled around, it's very hard to distinguish between the two.

Jordan Ayew described Hodgson as a 'father figure' in the video on BBC - [Link]

I think this was a nice tribute. I always think of Ayew as being very quiet and modest but his character really shines through here. Has been and is a very good player for us, seems the consummate professional and I'm therefore guessing a very valuable member of the team, even more so than I perhaps realise sometimes.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Jes Rak-Sakyi thanked Roy and described him as a '' Legend ''.

The vitriol directed on here by some people towards Hodgson was getting personal. And based upon zero first hand knowledge of the man.

Yes, indeed.

Well. a sad day but Mr Hodgson leaves gracefully, of course.
To think there were those on here who were telling him to" F*** O**": unbelievable.

Roy shows them the meaning of 'class'.

Thanks Roy.

A Palace fan, a gentleman. Thanks for everything.

Here's an example of a fan with no class: Radsyrendot is the name, I believe.

I noticed with Roy, the older he got, the scratchier he became. In the end he became downright angry and rude.
As I get older, I feel myself heading in a similar direction.
I reckon most people end up heading down that path. Why we become known as angry old codgers.

If that’s the most insulting thing you found then you do really need to lighten up.
We shout that to refs and opposing players every game ! Not the Roy bit obs as that would be weird

Becomes harder to cope with and adapt to change as the brain ages which is why it's beyond remarkable that Roy has lasted in the game as long as he has (Colin not far behind...having said Palace would be his last gig well over a decade ago).
