Regardless of how this came about, the considerable opportunity cost of Henderson and the need to keep two "starters" happy, the fact that there are two factions debating with force the qualities of the one over the other, I would say we are very lucky to have 2 quality keepers.

I believe there is a bit early overreaction against him. This is probably driven by its cost when we had an acceptable goalkeeper and lacking key players in other areas. Yesterday`s goals were not big goalkeeper faults but more focused goalkeeper would save them (second goal has a reflection but his reflex would be able to cope with it ideally). What i didn`t like yesterday actually was protests from supporters. (cheering when he saved an easy ball etc) Goalkeepers are alone guys and last thing you would do is to demoralize him especially for a goalkeeper who has only 2 months history and £20 mil price tag. I understand the frustration but we need to be more patient.

This will continue to go down as the most frustrating and unpopular bit of business I've ever seen the club do. Henderson is the top earner at our club, on £100k per week. He is a reserve goalkeeper, and not even a very good one. Blowing so much of our budget on him and then not being able to sign anyone in the areas we needed is, I'm afraid, genuinely unforgivable. It never seemed good business, and whoever ratified that deal is fully to blame for the predicament we find ourselves in. Parish may well tell us that everyone thinks they know how to run a football club, and the reality is harder than you think. That is, I'm sure, true. But spending a high percentage of any businesses available funds not just now but for the next five years too (5 year contract at £100k per week), shows serious incompetence and/or lack of judgement. The transfers team, Dougie Freedman, and the Board who signed off that decision, have utterly shafted those managing the team, as well as the fans. How many good players in positions we needed could we have signed for that money? If there is a banner shown at our next game, perhaps it should read "Henderson for £20m and no wingers - which clown signed that off?" absolute nonsense! maybe 1 if we were lucky Edited by the silurian (31 Jan 2024 10.36am)

Actually they’ve both been in England squads... think it’s slightly unfair to criticise a bit like Mateta.. when given the game time they improve...the Arsenal game was a one off , the whole team were poor...

We simply have to drop Calamity Jane. Johnstone is so much better.

Just watched the highlights of last night. Henderson doesn't react at all to either their 2nd goal or their late header that hit the bar. Slow reaction or what.

I think he was referring us to - The truth about "no fuss" cremations.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
