His current injury is unrelated to the one Olise sustained playing for France. It’s in the same hamstring just a different part of it according to the medical report I read, so it’s totally related as your body compensates when you are returning from injury. If Roy had of protected him as advised by his medical staff and taken him off once we had a 2 goal lead, he wouldn’t have picked up the injury at all, simple as that. Roy trying to deflect and refusing to take any blame yet again for his deficiencies in managing a tired and not totally fit squad and you backing him as normal. You’re not related are you?

Well, if this extract from an Athletic article is anything to go by, França may well start tonight or at least get some decent minutes: “He’s very bright,” added Hodgson. “He came in injured with a stress fracture, so he was in the hands of the medical department and sports science people for the first two months of the time he was here, and was released to us in small batches to do small things. It’s maybe the last two months where we’ve had him every day and he’s been fit to play. “That’s two months I have had to work with him, see him and realise what a talented player (sporting director) Doug Freedman has found. “We’re going to see plenty of him. The fans and the club will like him and appreciate his play. Doug told me about this signing and his decision to bring him to the club was made before they asked me to come back — (Freedman) said he’d need a bit of time to adjust, acclimatise and that’s been the case. But he has adjusted and acclimatised.
The other thing I do not like is why do we keep doing this signing people who have injuries. Roy can praise him all he wants it's BS actions speak louder he has only had 45 minutes game time so far. We paid over 20m for him you would expect for that money the guy to start every week (I do wonder if he will be loaned out if work permit allows it)

I haven’t been this excited to see a player start (franca) since Edgar David’s first game for us … I hope I’m not as disappointed as I was back then. All joking aside, Franca looks like a firework waiting to off, I just hope he doesn’t get over excited to impress and do silly things. Really excited to see him start cant believe it’s taken this long . Fingers crossed

Well now after all the hype from our fans calling Roy for not playing Franca can we now all see why . To me he has a long way to go you only need to compare his performance to David Ozoh . He came on and was positive and got fully involved and is well ahead in his development albeit in a different position. Agreed with the consensus that the match was dross two sides defensively based with no creativity and a no score draw was inevitable.

I can only comment on what I know. The medical team ‘ release ‘ players to the manager when they are deemed to be ready to return to training and therefore selection. Hodgson was advised to rest Olise soon after his return from the injury he picked up playing for France. Which he did . I have not read anything from the medical team in which they advised Hodgson to sub Olise . If you can be bothered, please feel free to post in on here. And maybe you could also prove that Hodgson is “ deflecting “ by sharing the medical report that you read. I’m sure we would all like to understand more. I don’t always back Roy. If you are capable of reading my posts without the prejudice you always display towards him, that might sink in although I’m far from confident it will.

I highly doubt that Roy would go against specific medical instructions. However, giving your most important player a few minutes off when 3-1 up is also a pretty sensible and standard thing to do.

The one thing I enjoyed from Franca yesterday was his intent, something we've sorely missed. He looks keen, willing to run at people and not totally bereft of footballing ability. He has neat feet and there were a couple of passes and attempts at them yesterday which, for me, fell outside of the usual and predictable things we typically see in our slow build up play. That injection of flair we sometimes crave. His rustiness is clear but I can only see that improving with game time for him to become more familiar and therefore at home in a PL side. If Olise/Ayew are unavailable, it's surely a matter of sticking him in for a while to enable him to stake a claim and make an informed judgement on his value/use to the team. I'd imagine there is a slight risk to playing a Franca who is somewhat unfamiliar with the rhythm and patterns to PL play however once he has this, he'll surely be a more valuable asset than most other options on the wing. Both him and Olsie could potentially provide that 'mayhem' and quality we desperately need to be a more sincere attacking force. COYP
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
