I tend to agree with this..!!

My issue is that Roy just seems so reluctant to give youth and potential a chance, instead he reverts to proven mediocrity..!!

Whilst other teams around us and Managers are giving youth and potential the chance to prove themselves.

Look at Saturday - if Schlupp hadn't pulled out for personal reasons I'm fairly certain that he would have played ahead of Richards.

But Richards played and played well and proved what some of us have been saying for weeks that he is by far a better option than Ward.

As others have said both Ahamada and Franca have shown glimpses of what they can/could potentially do - given the opportunity..!!

But Roy will not afford them that opportunity - he was the same with England - just played so called "experienced mediocrity" despite how many times they had previously demonstrated they weren't good enough..

Another example where was Ozoh on Saturday not even on the bench - yet Reiedewald was - we all know he ain't good enough, yet he was bought on ahead of Ahamada.

Another one Mateta - we all know he's hopeless - why not bring on Franca give him a run and put Ayew up front..!!

Roy just won't do it - whereas as I mentioned other teams and Managers are giving youth and potential a go..!!

All this seems totally at odds to me to the strategy of the club - who are heavily investing in and backing the academy.

Something got's to give and me thinks Parish's patience will be running thin with Roy's perceived stubbornness..!!

Them is my thoughts..!!

Richards played in midfield. He is not a RB.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

This is exactly the mentality I am referring to - how do you know unless you give it a go..!!

So in answer to your question - and what Ward is a Premier League standard right back is he..?? No he is not..!!

So why not try Richards there - he can't possibly be any worse..!!

If not try three at the back - just try something please, rather than this constant playing of known mediocrity in the vain hope that some day they will be better than they have been to date - it just ain't going to happen..!!

What, exactly, did Joel Ward do to piss you off at WH?

Your thoughts, but Roy has 40 plus years of experience managing football teams. In such a cut throat occupation you don’t last that long without knowing what you are doing.
If Roy doesn’t think playing others will benefit the team, it’s his call. They can’t do any worse mentality is pure guess work, not based on seeing the players in training everyday.

Great post!
And to the poster who says that Richards isn't a right back - he is a right sided central defender and or full back by job description!
He is certainly not a midfielder even though that is where he played on Sunday.

Good to know that how we do in one of the most important games this month has nothing to do with the club in general. Teapot.

Dougie Freedman selected a defender to play in a defensive midfield role in front of the back 4 - David Wright. And it worked, made us harder to beat.

Another quality contribution there. I have a real admiration for people who call others/supposedly fellow fans 'thickos' for no apparent reason in the middle of a Wednesday. What lives they must lead in being able to do such things.

As for the original post, I do agree Lanzo but let's not stop people (including myself) in having a good ol' moan from time to time!

We are where we are and although the answers may seem simple (Spend some money, get a new dynamic manager in, play some of the younger talent and not the same stale XI each week), my rather uninformed opinion is that it's far easier said then done and always an easier or more natural stance to take when things are going badly.

I'm gonna keep it in the day for now, given we have a match, and just stick with 'COYP!!!'. Win tonight would be massive, I'd take a draw and a loss may pave the way for little disregard when it comes to 'perspective'... for a brief spell anyhow.

EEEEEAAAAAGGGGLLLLLEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I have been speaking to a learned gentleman who has perused this thread and he recalls a quote from someone (He cannot recall the name) which basically equates to 'A small degree of perspective like a sprinkling of humour goes a long way'.

I for one will not gallivant down the 'Humour' alley at the end of the game if we are defeated tonight and any perspective will be sorely lacking !
