Give it a rest, please. You may consider your fulsome disdain to be 'my opinion and entitled to it' but you have this entrenched view of Mr Hodgson which will never shift, regardless of the evidence presented to you time and time again which refutes your stubborn view..

According to you, we should go gung-ho for the win, no matter who we are playing. God, I'm glad you're not in control of the team: we'd be relegated by now if you were.

I'd refer you back, as I often do, to a certain Tony Pulis, who also liked a solid defensive game, but somehow found a way for his arguably lesser talented side to score a goal or two using the means available to him / them.
I'm tired of all this "Poor Roy, he doesn't have the players" or "Roy can play attacking football, just look at last season" nonsense. PV was lambasted for a period of Patball during a very tricky run of games last season, Roy plays a bit of Royball and it's (again) "He has to play like this while so and so players are injured".
All excuses for a manager who tactical default setting is to negate rather than create.
I'd say get on with it Roy, and be a little bolder against teams like Forest and Fulham. That's all, show some intent.

Obviously the board think the young players are good enough to take on the Newcastles, Spurs, of this world. Can anyone here honestly say from what they have seen of them say they are. ? I have seen a lot of them at their levels, and in their cameos, and I can’t. And it’s because most lack really good first touch and close control, then throw in physicality .
It’s a case of grasping at straws, Ebowei, scores a goal, and does well on the night, great, and Hodgson praised him. That doesn’t translate to first team success, he will rarely if ever be allowed a goal like that in the Premier and his general play is still a little to loose for the big league, this applies not just him but virtually all of our younger players,

I would agree that we should show more intent, at least against
mid table and lower teams, and also on the observations re Pulis who seems to be disliked for reasons of his personality as opposed to his achievements.

Would you say the team showed no intent to attack the Spurs goal.? Whatever your answer, it’s on the record they did. There was no one saying don’t have a go .

Yes they did, even though they were not clear cut, they did. The irony is that, despite what Roy said, the biggest period of attacking intensity came when we were already two down and the youngsters introduced to the game. We actually scored a decent goal in that period, alas too late to affect the result.

I would also mention that the PL becomes more competitive as each year passes & as such has moved on significantly since Pullis / 2014.

Pulis took over a team the equivalent of the current Sheffield United in personnel and got it into a mid table position.A remarkable achievement.
I'm also unsure the current League is that much more competitive while Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United are in it and Spurs are topping the table.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool aren't a patch on their erstwhile teams either.
There's more money splashing around but often for dimishing returns.

Pulis did a great job at Palace for short time he was with us. Which in playing time was about 6 months. 6 months out of 11 seasons in the Premier League.

His conduct in walking out on the eve of the new season, and his subsequent attempt to con the club out of a £2m for a '' survival bonus '' say much about him as a person.

I think this is all madness, including Roy’s comments. We were playing against an in form big club who are top of the league. Who like me was really happy at half time, we gave it a good go and restricted them. If it wasn’t for the own goal we could have got something from the game. We should be praising what we managed to do in the game and look forward to the games coming up. More of the same and we will get some points.

Although it would be difficult to argue that Arsenal, Newcastle, Villa, Brentford & Brighton haven't progressed during that time.

Good post, the league leaders had 1 shot on target, and 2 corners in 103 minutes, with no major injuries in their team, i would like to see what would have happened if they didn't have their best to attacking players, Son and Maddison available.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn
