Thanks for writing that, Monkey. I now feel less bad, knowing I'm not the only one who felt little affection for the England squad. But now it's featuring three of our finest, I suppose we have to cheer the whole team!

I’m the same, I think my biggest problem these days is, the last 10 years palace have been locking horns with these players every week in the premier league and I really don’t like some of them, for example, Pickford, Rashford, Maguire, Kane, Henderson and in the recent past Mount, Dele Ali etc, so I find it hard switching from hating them at selhurst to then supporting them and wanting them to win.

It’s a shame because when we were 2nd division/championship I used to love the England team, especially back in the days of Keegan, Francis, Coppell, Hoddle, Sansom, Robson, Butcher, Shilton, Gazza, Lineker etc

TOO MUCH EXPOSURE TO FOOTBALL THESE DAYS.

Match of the Day with David Coleman Saturday Night then the Big Match sunday afternoon with Brian Moore and Jimmy Hill.

They were the glory days. Before Sky and satellite/internet changed our lives.

Couldn't agree more. But nobody is forced to watch wall-to-wall football. I pay my TV licence and that's it. And,no, I can rarely be bothered to watch international matches (except perhaps when the World Cup is on). Life for me is much as it was in those "glory days".

I remember Atillio Lombardo getting picked for Italy whilst at Palace after a promising start for us, got injured playing and didn't really see him again until Brolin showed up and our subsequent relegation. I hope, nay pray, neither Eze or Gheui are anywhere near the starting eleven.

According to GS presser, he is not going to fiddle with, tinker or experiment with the side that he puts out. We'll see.

I can't help but feel that Eze getting picked was a slightly cynical move to stop him teaming up with Nigeria. As good as he is I just don't see him being anymore than a cameo for England. I mean, if Foden can't get a start it's hard to see Eze squeezing his way in. Henderson was useless the other night but he'll still get picked ahead of better players because apparently experience is much more important than ability. Klopp knew he was done at the top level, GS is still catching up.

It's really pathetic how click bait just uses Palace players called up to England as an excuse to claim that a 'big club' wants to sign them next season.

Desperate stuff.

“But I think the first thing is not fiddling around with the team because we're playing a top level side who will be giving us a high level challenge. You can't over-experiment as that would be ridiculous."

Southgate’s words last night. No chance of Eze playing. And the sort of dull approach we have got used to. If you can’t experiment in a friendly against Scotland when can you?

Ssn are reporting that Ramsdale will start in goal earning his 4th cap(same as Johnstone). His games were the 10-0 v San Marino, 0-0 v Italy & the highly embarrassing 0-4 at home to Hungary.

Otherwise, same team that started last game, which means Maguire man-marking Guehi & Henderson running(ish) around a lot.

In that case, I'm looking forward to a report that says that only Guehi's heroics saved England from a heavier defeat and that the other bright spot was Eze's added-time solo goal one minute after coming on
