Given, fingers crossed, nothing dramatic happens over the next four hours Parish and Freedman have done a simply amazing job holding on to Olise, Ebs, Decoure, Guehi and Anderssen. So much for all that clickbait!!!

The right back chat feels a bit irrelevant. We've just made our RB captain - like it or not, he's clearly first choice and Clyne is the cover. Holding at least means that if a ridiculously attractive bid comes in for Guehi or Andersen in January we're not immediately panicking for a replacement.

Holding's lack of speed and slow turn not a secret, I can only assume we closed the deal because he is injured
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Club captain is about status in the dressing room and setting an example to the rest of the squadetc.

Both were 'legacy' captains who had the role for many years but whose game time had reduced. Both, when appointed and for the following seasons, started every week. I can't think of the last time a player was made captain and immediately dropped or replaced. It has to be about as big a vote of confidence for an upcoming season that any club can give an individual.
