I just seen rashfords penalty win on match of the day.

How in the world is that a penalty? And how in the world do the pundits agree it's a penalty?

The pundits diddn't dwell on it but if pushed Im sure they would have agreed it wasn't a pen IF the ref had not given it .

Personally no it wasn't, Rashford was as much to blame for the touching of thighs as the defender IMO .But it was an on field decision which Im sure we all prefer rather than VAR getting involved

That was the reason Dermot Gallagher gave. He said VAR have been told not to get involved with on field decisions unless...well, who knows really?
An interesting one was the Sheffield Utd goal where McBurnie was clearly offside and even impeding the goalkeeper but Kyle Walker had slid off the pitch and so played him onside even though he wasn't actually on the pitch at the time.

From my humble perspective, it was a stonewall penalty.
There would have been much wailing and lamentation amongst our supporters if Rashford had been our player and a penalty had not been awarded.

Clattenberg would have given it, after all it was at Old Trafford

One word “Utd”
Anyone else think their second goal was offside. Surely Casemiro was offside in the build up and had to be interfering with play or am I missing something?

If it was Forest, not United, would they have got those decisions?

I think we know the answer to that one.

So hopefully VAR will not overturn any on field decisions given to “lesser” teams

Surely a player off the pitch cannot play someone onside? Have I missed something

That's what I thought but he was very definite about it. It was on this morning's Ref Watch.

Another interesting one was Ayew’s disallowed goal against Sheffield Utd. Apparently a player cannot be deemed as offside if he reacts to a rebound from a save. This he most certainly did

Our sympathies to Marco Silva Fulham boss who is understandably doing his Portugese nut over Ake's allowed effort against them.

Had there been no VAR, Michael Oliver, who looked in pain, would no doubt have disallowed it.

Here is the audio:-

VAR Harrington: "So the keeper sees it, there's no difference, we're happy. Check complete?"

AVAR Nunn: "Personally, I'm happy for check complete."

VAR Harrington: "OK, check complete, check complete."

Not exactly the Supreme Court, is it?

Sky TV continue to suck the life out of Soccer Saturday with the introduction of Mike Dean as the ' go-to guy ' for refereeing / VAR incidents.

In light of his recent revelations, it's incredible he got the gig.

I won't be watching that in future.

Did he explain how the referees check the club badge before going to VAR.
