Another goal looking like he could get 15 this season maybe ,as for lazy Clinton was bad , all strikers need tobe supplied there job is to score , no supply no goals simple really , worked for years but seems that people expect strikers to do more

I am reminded of Cameron Jerome. Worked his socks off, put a shift in and played great! Only scored 2-3 goals that season. We have Eduard a goal scorer he won't do the Cameron Jerome work but will score.

You won't get a player who does the work and scores lots at palace it's one of the other. Unless we play in the championship.....

Surprised you can see him Rachid. Spends most of his time hiding behind the central defenders.
He's going to score today - isn't he!

Lol ...class

A composed finish from Edouard today, a player who can score with both feet.

He does appear to be two-footed, takes penalties with his right foot but will shoot and cross with his left foot and is willing to use it.

I think his first two seasons have not been good in the EPL.

2021/22: played 28 EPL games (6 G, 3 A) equates to roughly a goal or assist every 3 games given it was his first season I guess people could have patience

2022/23: played 35 EPL games (5 G, 2 A) equates to a goal or assist every 5 games

2023/24: this season he has not been too bad 5 goals in 12 EPL games (which is closer to 1 goal every 2 games which any club would love to have)

The question is can Edouard be a player that scores around 13+ EPL goals a season consistently? I think this season he can easily score that it is just taking the chances.

One player I remember people taking about was Gyokeres. He would have been a good signing.

I hope Edouard turns a corner this season and gets 13 or more EPL goals.

Counting appearances is a bit of a nonsense when very few of them were 90 mins.

First season he got 6 in 1565 mins
Second he got 5 in 1806 mins
Third so far he has 6 in 1116 mins

Even last season which was his worst he was going at a rate of 1 goal every 4x 90 mins

A composed finish??? Scuffed his shot and nearly missed. He has indeed scored a few goals for us this season, does very little else though. Mateta just embarrassing. Would rather see Mathurin or Ola-Adebomi being given a 20 minute run out. Could do no worse than Mateta, but will never happen under the Hodgesaurus.

We have alternative viewpoints.
Eduoard never panicked as he advanced on goal, did a step-over and coolly slotted the ball home, goalscored 1-1 !

I am still not convinced but to be fair, he is scoring.

Nowadays, anything in double figures for the season is decent.

I agree with Willo. Although Edouard was gifted possession he still had a defender in front of him and worked the shot well. Maybe not the most powerful of connections but it was all about the placing.

After his goal he started to do some of the things that I think have been missing from his game. He competed with physicality and linked play well at times.

A Jekyll and Hyde performance from Edouard.
Anonymous and seemingly disinterested before his goal.
After his goal, he came to life and started to compete with their centre halves and become more involved in our team play.
It may partly be a confidence thing with him, or the fact that he doesn't get much service which hampers him.
He's probably not helped by his playing style which gives the impression that he is not playing with maximum effort or seeking to work the opposition defenders.
I imagine he'll continue in a similar vein, frustrating supporters with his lack of involvement while still providing our best hope of scoring a goal.

Edouard isn't terrible, and he proves (every other week at the min) that he can score. He often wants too long on the ball and doesn't get a shot away, but when he does, they often go in.

I think the issue with him is that we are NOT performing at a level where we can do without 1 player working their socks off.

He doesn't put himself about, or run the channels, and only really comes alive when he has the ball at his feet facing goal.

For me, our next foray into the striker market needs to be a worker. Less emphasis on the goal scoring, because I feel that with a more combative front man, we'd have more goals spread across the team.
