Yep can't see it being anything other than this. Although it's nice to see academy products on the bench, I think they're currently nothing more than placeholders and are unlikely to be thrown in unless we get desperate. A sign that our squad depth is pretty worrying. However sometimes academy players need a push to see if they can grab their chance.

I'm expecting that starting XI as well but then Hodgson did say he would be playing what he thought was the best XI in the Sevilla and Lyon games, so the above line-up should be no surprise.

The bench is more interesting. We can only name 9 and so 3 of those you've listed will miss out. In fact I expect it will be 4 because Mitchell may be fit enough for the bench. It will most likely be 3/4 youngsters. I doubt Franca will be ready for the bench on Saturday but Hodgson may just surprise me.

I reckon Lewis Hall will be here by Saturday and go straight into the team at LB.

Probably the only new player before the start of the season.

It’s very likely to be the same team on Saturday unless Mitchell recovers in which case I think he’ll replace Clyne.
I would anticipate we would have more of the possession against Sheffield Utd with their threats from direct play and set pieces.
We have to be ready for the battle.

The game v Arsenal presents a different challenge with Clyne possibly a better option at left back to mark Saka who tends to cut in from the right on his left foot which would suit Clyne.
I imagine Arsenal will dominate possession against us and will seek to pack the midfield and block the spaces.

These two games provide a snapshot of the different tactical approaches we may encounter this season and a different system will be required against e.g Luton to that required v Manchester City.

My concern remains where the goals will come from in our team whoever we are facing.

the line up is pretty nailed on after the last 2 friendlies with the only debate, as discussed, who plays at LB. Clyne looked ok there so i suspect it will be him - unless Roy prefers him at RB.

The front 3 looks uninspiring and all the creativity is on Eze's shoulders.

I'd take a 1-0 win now!

That's probably the line up. Given the injury list and the fact Roy likes to coach a settled side, I'd imagine we'll be seeing a similar line up for a few weeks.

As exciting as the Franca signing is, he's a very young man living and working in a totally alien environment for the first time. It would be great if he hit the ground running but he might have to be drip fed into the side at first.

The only other thing that would change the line up significantly would be the signing of a battle-ready pro like Che Adams etc.

If he’s coming he will be injured…that seems to be our new strategy as it brings the cost down.

I think we should play the Christmas pudding formation.

The team is nailed on subject to a Mitchell recovery. Roy's told the world this is his best team - no criticism intended. I think this is more for internal consumption.

So like we all know, we will start with Dangerclose team just like we did v Lyon.

We looked nearly very good in the first half. Things changed when subs started coming on in the second half and we lost our shape a bit.

Assuming our starting eleven stays fit through the game we should be too good for the Blades.
