Would have been better if it had Clint Eastwood instead of Charles Bronson, as originally intended.

The Dollars Trilogy and Outlaw Josey Wales are really the only westerns that I would watch regularly.

I'd probably add Nevada Smith, Unforgiven, High Plains Drifter and Last Of The Mohicans (1992) to a list worth watching more than once.

Agreed. Sergio very unhappy with Clint but he wanted to do his own thing and went off to do Play Misty. In retrospect the right choice given his Hollywood career then took off.

That said the movie would still have been good had the role gone to Christopher Biggins with that Morricone score!

A smart move to cast Don Siegel in Play Misty for Me so he was on hand for advice.

I watched Soldier Blue the other day, has its moments but wouldn't put it high up. Both True Grits are good but I prefer the original. Watched the original 3.10 to Yuma this week, liked it probably more than the remake. Nobody put Young Guns or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid.

I do like butch cassidy but the best westerns are ageless. Butch cassidy is very dated.

Point in case.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, it look like a 1940s movie yet was made in 1962, I should have put that on my list as well.

I saw this by chance a couple of years ago while flicking through. The old guy from BTTF, his dad was brilliant as well. The end two minutes was the perfect punchline

A great film with the best soundtrack.

I can't honestly say that I particularly like it. The score is nice, but it is a dull film. It would have been good to see Eastwood play alongside Henry Fonda, but the Hollywood budget did not improve on the Dollars Trilogy for me.

Cold Mountain

Watched this a couple of times, wife is not a Western fan but really likes this film, maybe something to do with my lookalike Jude Law being the main character

At the back end of his career Tarantino has decided to remake history so Inglorious b******s is about Jews kicking Nazi arse, Django unchained is about slaves killing whitey slave master and Once Upon A time in Hollywood is about how Sharon Tate doesn't die and the Manson gang get their bloody comeuppance at the hands of Hollywood actors.

So to answer your question it depends on whether you like Tarantino in my opinion he only made one good movie Jackie Brown the rest have been OTT.
