The story would have been big whoever was in it. But would the (potential) rescue attempts have been so extravagant for a boat of migrants.

Those people are not victims of anything other than their desire to come to Britain to work illegally and pay no tax or get involved in criminality. Don't come and you won't drown.

What I was alluding too, was if the people on the submarine weren't incredibly rich, would some of the potential rescue ships have started 2-day trips to the sinking site, without the sniffter of a massive bonus fee if successful. ? 30 Albanians on a rubber dingy,...fck 'em.

I think the point about the clock ticking and time running out is valid. The Greek Ferry disaster was a tragedy but was over the only thing left is to apportion blame. The sub tragedy was still being played out with hopes that a miraculous rescue could be pulled off. Plus it's the Titanic the most famous maritime disaster of all time. So not a fair comparison.

The Chilean miners The boys football team in the caves No chance of money in either of those, and yet they all came for nothing more than humanitarian compassion and the chance to help.

The Indian rail victims only boarded a train with the reasonable expectation of arriving a their destination. It's difficult to read what we care about, from the media who is sitting on a sofa would appear to have about the same importance.

I think that is a little unfair. The US coast guard does their best to rescue people. Any private efforts need funding. Anything involving the Titanic is high profile, so people want to be seen doing the right thing.

It was following a conversation i had with someone last week about the value of human life. And insurance companies, for example, very definitely distinguish between the value of a billionaire and the value of a pensioner on benefits.
