We spent less last season on transfer fees than all other the PL clubs and still finished 11th. When you add in income from transfers we were 6th best. Not a bad effort! SP and Dougie must be doing something right!(although the Weed finished 6th and had a positive balance of 82 million! )

Are we even bothering discussing? Apparently so.

Yes, two new full backs, a covering CB, maybe another CM, a winger or two and a striker, alongside a top class manager would be nice. There is also reality however.

Leicester won the PL 7 years ago. Relegated.
Everton have spent tons, had the likes of Ancelotti, Benitez, Koeman and Martinez - Nearly relegated last two years.
Leeds tried to be revolutionary. Relegated.
Southampton too. Relegated.
Watford have thrown the kitchen sink at things and are a laughing stock.
The list does and will go on.

Our improvement might be incremental and therefore slow however even a static existence is almost certainly preferable to any plummet.

If I had been at the reigns we’d of seen Palace win the champions league by now I’m sure however I’ve not much complaint with our current and continued state. There’s theory and hypotheses with nothing at stake and there is the actual management of a football club with limitations. This has been done successfully for a period now and the wish for more is natural however does not excuse ridiculous whining.

Pretty much covered how I see it. I would love a trophy or a European jaunt and they may well come with the current approach. I do believe we are slowly, slowly progressing and that IMO is the way to go with our resources. A sugar daddy could open up dreams and expectations but I won't hold my breath for that one. To depart the EPL after all this time would be a real heartbreaker.

Has big nose gone for the cheap option again with going for Hodgson
Or
Are they looking for someone who can move the club forward as Hodgson isn't the man to do that

I just have the gut feeling that the manager situation is already sorted! There is still a few weeks until preseason, and I’m sure an announcement will be made in due course.

I agree with you, but my gut feeling is more associated with indigestion and other such disturbances!

We had a perfectly good third goal disallowed. Harland avoided a red card for a head high tackle and then proceeded to score a hat trick. Simple really.

Seems very much like unfortunately it’s gonna be another year if Hodgson. Are we actually even searching for a replacement or is parish just making it drag on so he can make out his tried to find someone else? No links other than potter and that has gone silent. Seems like we have no ambition at all. Also very convenient that it has gone quiet and Hodgson is on holiday?

And the problem with that is what exactly..??

Look as my previous posts on here - last time round I was very much in the Hodgson out camp and was delighted when we appointed Vieria - but after a really good start he simply run out of ideas and arguably the football became even worse than the darkest times of “Roy Ball”..!!

Hodgson was reappointed - I even set up a thread “Parish got to get this right” - and hats off to him he did - you cannot deny our end of season form and style of play was miles better than anything under Vieria…!!

Eze not.always picked/trusted by Vieria - became the player we all knew/hoped he could be - Olise became far better - forming a great partnership/understanding with Eze - we went from wondering where our next point was coming from to anticipating - having genuine hope of getting something out of every game - on that Leeds away will live long in my memory - best Palace performance I have seen for years.

How has all that happened..??

Well you don’t have a CV like Roy and Ray’s (don’t under estimate Ray Lew’s influence/impact) - if you are a poor management team.!! It just shows what a good. and highly experienced Manager and Coach can do with a squad with some real quality..!!

So coming back to my question “your problem with this is what” - we could do/be in a lot worse position than having people at the top that.are Palace through and through like us - my only reservation on that is Parish - whilst no doubt well intended - just out of his financial depth - in the crazy world of todays Premier League…!!

But in summary be careful what you wish for..!!
