I think if Sean Dyche were not employed then he would be a potential option but he isn't although I think he will be almost top of the sack race next season. Everton will likely be in big trouble again next season.

We could do a whole lot worse. As for the Brighton connection, Glenn Murray worked out pretty well, didn't he? I wouldn't worry about his history at Chelsea either - a club that's thoroughly septic from the top down. I'd also be perfectly happy if Roy and Ray stayed another year. So there.

Potter is a complex manager who requires time to implement a playing style and his players to completely buy into his methods. He had neither of those at Chelsea, only joining in September which meant he had to hit the ground running without a pre-season, plus he had to contend with Boehly spunking hundreds of millions on players that he clearly didn't want and who didn't fit his ethos. He had 22 league games in charge at Chelsea, winning 7, drawing 7 and losing 8 which is average for them. However, after he left they played a further 10 games and won 1, drew 3 and lost 6, so they actually got significantly worse. As manager of Ostersund he got promoted twice and then in the top flight finished 8th (1.40 points per game), 5th (1.67), 7th (1.55). At Brighton in the Premier League he finished 15th (1.08 ), 16th (1.08 ), 9th (1.35) and then had them 4th (2.17) after six games when he left. De Zerbi is getting all the credit but I say there's a convincing argument that clubs get better and better under Potter and that he deserves much of the credit for their season. If we appoint him and give him time, he will take us forward without any doubt in my mind. Edited by Canterbury Palace (31 May 2023 5.25pm)

I think most top managers would have struggled with the names the egos the pay checks in that changing room. I doubt he had a say in the £600mill that was outlaid- more a case of :

You need to factor in that he took over a semi sinking ship when he started at Brighton. They were on the brink of relegation at that point in time. He's clearly progressed them as a club and a lot of credit for this seasons 6th place finish must be attributed to him for their great start. We're more advanced now than what Brighton were when he took over. If we can get gradual progress and work our way up the league a few positions, that would be a fantastic outcome. He's had a solid CV and has done the hard graft overseas to get to where he is today. He's not a Frank Lampard/Steven Gerrard who are clearly out of their depth and landing jobs based on their names. For a big club like Chelsea to sack Tuchel in favour of Potter shows how highly he's regarded. He won't get a 'Big 6' job any time soon, so a club like Palace could be a good fit for all parties. I would imagine Spurs, Everton and West Ham would all be interested too. He'd be my first choice out of those who realistically available. I also would be happy with Roy, but think if someone of Potter's calibre is available and interested, it's a too good a opportunity to turn down. Yeah. I'd go along with that.

Although I'd say its time for Mr Hodgson to go now. What a manager. A true Palace legend imo.

I'd prefer Cooper, but he hasn't resigned, and Forest are still in the PL. of those available, he looks like he ticks quite a few boxes. Good PL experience and laid the foundations for a good Brighton team. The other option would be Roy mentoring Paddy to take over after a season....but I think Pqddy would be plunged in to the deep end far too soon. Difficult choices. It didn't work out with de Boer or Patrick. Let's hope Parish gets the choices right 🤞
