However you try and play with the numbers, the current state of public services and housing does not make such large numbers feasible.

The minimum wage for a legal working immigrant is below 30K, that will not generate sufficient tax to pay for potential cost of public services to be used and benefits that they will be eligible for.

Simple terms, these new immigrants will be net takers from the system when taxes are at an all time high and the interest on the national debt is billions every month.

The country may well have passed a tipping point and whoever is in power cannot fix the problem.

Grim

It seems to be generally accepted that the current level is unsustainable but is due to a blip in the figures because of Ukraine and Hong Kong.

That said we are sill short of labour so if I it falls what happens?

It's you who are out of touch. Most people don't care one way or the other, and it seems more are now in favour of increased immigration to fill vacancies than are against it.

I guess you must live somewhere which has been impacted by something and your opinions distorted by it.

The unemployment rate is predicted to be 5% by 2024.

I'm just glad I spent most of my life in better times.

I just feel sorry for my grandkids. They deserve better.

They weren’t better times! They were different times. Ours were times when xenophobia was considered normal. Some of us learned better. Some didn’t.

Our kids grew up in more enlightened times but had other problems to face. They weren’t better or worse. Just different. That’s their times.

Our grandkids won’t know your times, only their parent’s and their own, which will seem completely normal to them.

I feel sorry for your grandkids too. They have a grandad telling them how great it used to be and how their attitudes are all wrong. Nothing new there!

Enlightened attitudes are no substitute for a more practically affordable and more community and family friendly life. It makes no difference to people struggling to pay rent, to pay bills, living in crime ridden areas, unable to get an operation, unable to buy food, unable to see the doctor, knowing their kids won't be able to ever buy a house, that trans rights are respected, or that people are less racist. People with real problems want those problems solved. Seeing mixed race couples on TV ads or gay or trans people socially normal doesn't feed or clothe or house them, or heal them when they're sick. Expect a backlash: it's likely to come. It will come for you and me - the homeowners, the professionals, the middle class- because you can guarantee that the rich won't suffer.

It will be a sort of Northern Ireland situation with concentrations of various ethnic groups in certain areas, no-go areas and intermittent outbreaks of sectarian violence.

The Conservatives went to the country with a manifesto commitment pledge to reduce net migration four times. They just tell their voters what they want to hear and they fall in line.

The messaging to non EU immigrants was always very different. It was obvious all along that we were trading one type of immigration for another with Brexit.

"Feb 23, 2016

Priti Patel, Britain’s minister of state for employment, believes exiting the European Union will provide a “massive boost” to relations with India, “I know that many members of the Indian diaspora find it deeply unfair that other EU nationals effectively get special treatment.

This can and will change if Britain leaves the EU. "

I'm not anti sensible numbers at all, nor am I colour obsessed in that process. From a housing perspective alone though these numbers are make a difficult situation - home ownership - worse. Anything to prop up those house prices. No shortage of landlord MPs of course. Funny that. They've had 13 years to reduce numbers; instead by intention they've dramatically increased them.

For a decades plus nothing has stopped the government bringing in and seeing through an immigration policy that mirrored their manifesto pledges.

King's college? I wouldn't be surprised if half those they asked were bleeding foreign.

Attitudes have softened as the percentages go up.

Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and now Sunak.

All have one thing in common.

They are utter b****x, and have ruined the UK.

This idea that a country can't police its own borders has always been nonsense. It always comes down to will. Everything else is an excuse.

Yes. That will be the Coudenof-kalergi plan.

Government borrowing costs have surged back to levels last seen under Liz Truss’s ill-fated premiership.

UK 10 year gilt yield now higher than Greece.

Funny how there are no men in grey suits from the markets telling him to resign isn't it.

I wonder why...
