I noticed amongst the list of retained and new academy contracts a certain Killian Phillips has signed an extension (he had 1 year left of his initial 2.5 year contract).

After his successful loan at Shrewsbury a few Championship clubs were sniffing around, which appears to be a good the next step in his career.

However, a few articles have commented that he's only got 12 months left etc etc and Palace may be forced to sale.

No details of the extension but it clearly shows he is rated by the club. It also means if he doesn't quite make it at Prem level but say has a decent Championship loan next season we can still get a decent fee.

Excluding any suggestions from our youth:

Starting XI/Back Up

Johnstone/ Guaita

Clyne/ Ward
Andersen/ Tomkins
Guehi/ Richards
Mitchell/ (Schlupp/Jairo/Ward)

Doucoure/ (Hughes/Schlupp/Jairo)
Lerma/ (Hughes/Schlupp/Jairo)
Eze/ Ahamada

Olise/ (Edouard/Ebiowei)
Mateta/ Edouard
Ayew/ (Edouard/Ebiowei)

I've highlighted where I think we need replacements. I think Lerma a good start but I hope not end of (serious) business! Let alone any possible departures.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Yep, sounds right to we, and offload Edouard or Mateta, one of them, a new CF, i would rather have Schlupp at CF than Edouard.

If Franca comes, I would expect JRS to go out on loan to a Championship club not waste his time on the bench.

Looking at the squad travelling to America there are clear gaps in the squad.
Matthews is the second keeper in the continued mysterious absence of Guiata.
Ayew, Mateta and Edouard are the only forward options which looks weak by Premier League standards.
We look relatively strong in central defence but that could change with the supposed interest in our two first choice central defenders.
We are likely to start the season without our two first choice wide players in Olise (injury) and Zaha (injury/contract uncertainty).
There is clearly work to do in the market and this means players who can make an immediate impact as opposed to squad players like Plange and Ebiowei who are not travelling and are seemingly not considered near the first team at this stage.
The full back position is just about adequate but there is still no real competition for Mitchell meaning a patch up solution if Mitchell is absent.

Of course the situation could change if we hold off interest in Anderson, Guehi and Doucoure and if Zaha signs a new contract and retains fitness quickly and if we sign Franca and if Guiata re-emerges…..

But there’s a lot of ‘ifs’ there.

There is a pic of Guaita on his twitter/instagram thingys of him in the gym stating that he's back. Seems he may have been injured & was better. As for Luke Plange, he is already out in the US with the U21's for a tournament. Ebiowei, i agree, doesn't look like 1st team material. In the couple of pre-season games he has featured, to me, he was all 'flicks n tricks' like someone who was really trying to impress & failing badly, just my opinion.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Edouard looked good so far hopefully he has a really good season and gets over 13 EPL goals. 7 last year and he was not at his best so 13+ is not impossible. With Olise being injured, maybe Rak Sakyi will get more minutes and he can do well.

Lerma is a good signing and Ahamada will have a better season this year.

Anyone know what's going on with Ebiowei?

Not in the US squad...
