Anything less than 4-O would be disappointing. Then we can start some serious thinking about why we have been overtaken by Fulham and Brentford. And why Brighton is light years ahead of us.

The weed have a good manager good tactics and great team spirit. Won’t last. Ultimately they are a (for the Prem) low spend club as are Fulham and Brentford. You might as well have some serious thinking about why we finished above Wolves West Ham Everton and Leicester. They’ve all got bigger stadiums and bigger spend. Over time money talks. We are on a ten year run in the Prem. What more do you want.

I think Chelsea would be more concerned where they finish, after spending £600m on top of an already expensive squad. We finished in our expected position. Edited by Painter (27 May 2023 10.38pm)

Edited by Painter (27 May 2023 10.38pm) All correct. I’d only add we will finish in our expected position despite things going badly wrong at one and quite long point.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Why bother hoping that we'll have an inspirational manager, good looking football and great team spirit? Of course nothing lasts (just like life or Manchester City's current domination of the PL) but it's no reason not to want the highs because there will be lows. You seem to be suggesting that we should be happy with our lot (ten year run in the PL etc) but can't you see that by your argument that too won't last? We'll get relegated and when we do what's the point of hoping for some more good times - albeit temporary highs - because that won't last either. Correct me if I'm wrong but you seem to have a rather joyless outlook - why do you even bother?

You’re presumably not happy as we aren’t achieving what the weed are doing atm. Cheer up it could be worse! Anyway we’re all Palace fans COYP

Forest have secured PL survival, and there'll be a tendency to relax We can also try to persuade Cooper to be our next manager. He's taken Forest from Championship strugglers to PL survivors . He's also very good with young players.

The programme makes it sound like it’s going to be a charity match with Luka Macca and others making farewell appearances. If they do it should be after we are in an unbeatable position

We are on a ten year run in the Prem. What more do you want. Yup. Check the final tables for the last 15 years. Sobering. Clubs finishing top half with fans reasonably expecting their new standing to go on and on. 2 years later they're gone; and stay gone. This is what annoys me when posters talk about a lack of ambition and over tight purse strings. We do not have the resources to compete. That we went up was miraculous enough. That we have clung on for a decade suspends belief. BTW the romantic drama of our rise from near death pales beside Luton. That has to be one of the most remarkable stories of any sport.
