“Look at us, we are south London, we’re not from Surrey, honestly, we’re all south London, we’ll put it on billboards and our shirts to prove it, and scarves, honestly, we are south London, we’re soooo south London, south London is OURS. Even though you’ll rarely meet any of us in PROPER south London, we are honestly south Londoners”

Hahah try hards the lot of you.

Although in League One, which is perhaps their level, they probably won't even make that. Watford are good rivals for them for now and Charlton in a season or two. If we play them, we'll probably play the kids. Our rivalry is over anyway, just not worthy at present.

Well your main rivalry is that manufactured one with a club from the south coast. Like everything else about your club and fanbase… plastic, artificial, a bit cheesy and a very tacky.

A tad more character and history than Croydon. And Streatham and West Norwood for that matter.

South London is yours??? Palace??? Hahaha yeah, you lot really represent south London don’t you lol

I see that one got you mate. Who are your rivals now? Not us anyway. That'd be like Bolton saying Man City are their rivals. See you in a third round some year. What happened last time? Damn sure it won't be a fourth round as you lot won't be in it.

I hate to say it but Millwall are punching above their weight with one of the smallest budgets in the Championship. They have good American owners who fund the club are liked by the fans and don't appear to interfere too much on the playing side.

My hope for next season is that somebody poaches their manager.

You’re not very old are you Wippa, otherwise you would know it’s the least manufactured rivalry out there, it started because of a lot of incidents and trouble from a lot of big games in a short space of time in the late 70’s

And btw, you say cheesy and tacky as if it’s a bad thing

Millwall have punched above their weight the last few seasons and Rowett has done a very good job. They are clearly in south London and from my point of view are one of palace’s 2 rivals. However they have not been a rival for the last decade (as not in our league it’s simple as that) we’ve played them once and beat them with our reserves at their home ground in the cup. Plus Millwall choking on the last day after being 2 nil up at home is beyond parody really.

In the last 20 years Millwall have been in the third tier for 2 years and bumbled around in the championship, with a couple of good cup runs that’s it! They average 12,000 gates with fans mostly based in Welling and Eltham ( virtually Kent). The Den is in an industrial estate that Lewisham council keep trying to sell off parts of the site. I would say Millwall haven’t been a real decent side since 1989 when they had Sherringham and Cascarino and we’re “worthy rivals” in the old top tier. Football didn’t start in 1992 but again Millwall have never been in the premier league. Also in 40 years of watching football only the Den and Elland road is where I’ve heard blatant racist abuse and monkey chants to both home and away players. I wonder if Wippa remembers the “chicken George” name given to one of their own wingers?

Palace’s recent history is clearly much better and we are a bigger club by any metric you look at, and the best team currently south of the river. We finished this season 11th in the richest league in the world ( above Chelsea) Prize money of £140 million this season. 3 players in the England squad, a squad full of internationals. A new £100 million academy and an U21 team that made the champs league final. We’ve recently sold an academy graduate for £50 million to Man Utd. We’ve won nothing granted since the mighty ZDS cup but are clearly the biggest team in South London by both attendances and league position. We’ve also won a championship play off final and reached an FA cup final in the last decade.

Historically your best players have left to join us further proof we’re seen as the “bigger club” Roberts, Armstrong and thanks for not seeing the talent in Eze too. You’ve had our rejects like Jamie Morale, Bobby Bowery and Grabbon.

As Brighton are now in the premier league and also a major rival they have probably become our biggest rival again. The rivalry is real (especially from their side) their is a history of dislike and fighting against our fans since the 70s and the Venables and Mullary managerial rivalry (not manufactured).

I personally don’t really get the ultra thing myself but they make a good noise and support the team from the first minute to last so will do for me. Millwall fans spend half the time moaning at your players, hating everyone and singing one song. That’s when you’re not in the bogs sniffing and smoking pot. Like most London clubs these days fans come from the surrounding areas due to London prices and the erosion of the working classes from South London ( unfortunately). Selhurst park is a bit of a dump but it’s our dump and creates a good atmosphere. The Den can too but it’s never full and you can’t open the away lower tier due to wanting to fight away fans basically mugging your own clubs match day revenue. Hopefully our proposed flash new stand will be taking our Capacity to 35,000 nearly 3 times Millwall’s average gate. Probably taking us even further forward both in finances and fan base for the next generation.

Two things we do agree on Wippa is I also hate Sainsbury’s and Millwall are definitely located in South London ( so congrats on that) but no more at the heart of it than Crystal Palace. Good luck next season in the 2nd tier and enjoy some big clubs coming to the mighty (half empty) Den. Let em come, let em come lol…….

Up the Palace!

I have recognised that Millwall have not been lavish spenders in recent seasons.
