From what I've seen, JRS isn't ready yet. He's behind Eze, Olise, Ayew, Ebiowei and Zaha (if he signs). There's no point having him to sit on the bench occasionally.

The best outcome is to get him out on loan to a Championship club which is a step up from the Clowns, and if can get 35-40 games under his belt and perform well, he might then be ready for his chance.

It will do his confidence nor progression no good to come back to Palace and play in the U21s.

Sounds sensible to me.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Agreed, I went to watch him play for Charlton at MK Dons towards the end of last season, having not watched him in person since he was playing for our U23’s. He was decidedly average that night and I saw nothing to suggest he would be pushing for a Premier League start.

He was anonymous for the u21s against PSV at Selhurst the other week. It's only one game of course, but I had hoped a player who got double figures for an average League 1 club would be too much for an u21 side.

I think his biggest obstacle remains Olise, who plays the same position in a very similar way.

Another year on loan seems best, ideally to the Championship.

One thing I noticed - he's really not a very big lad at all, is he? Fair play to him for doing well in League 1.

What would be good is if Palace sign someone like Sarr from Watford can play LW, RW or ST. Then send Rak Sakyi on loan there for a year. The Championship is a very competitive league it would be good for him. Sarr would be perfect Zaha replacement he could also do a job up front he can play there.

Good decision IMO.

Will be great to see if he can make the step up.

Agree. Good team and very good young manager. Also have Freddie Ladapo

Sadly it’s looking all the more likely he’s going to be on the very long list of promising youngsters who get loaned out several times before they finally move on permanently to a lower league team. He made his debut for us nearly two years ago, if it was going to happen with us it would’ve happened by now

He's only 20 Monkey . I know some make the break through in their teens but most not until their early 20's . I would say he has another couple of years before Charlton sign him on a permanent deal in league 2

If Charlton are indeed relegated to League 2, why would he sign for them when he's proved capable of playing at least a division higher than that?

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Bit like Conor Gallagher then

Not at all.

He's clearly making progress if he gets loaned out to Ipswich in the Championship.

Look at Gallagher's progression (had a loan at Charlton before moving to Swansea in the Championship).

Harry Kane had several loans before Spurs realized his value to them.

Eze had several rejections before QPR gave him a chance in the Championship.

It's great to see Palace players like Rak-Sakyi, Phillips and O'Brien going out on loan and being successful.

Still early days.

I just think, I’m sure not one youngster makes it big time with us after several loan spells at lower league teams. If you think back Moses, Clyne, Wilf, AWB, Mitchell, they seemed to go straight from youth/under 21 straight to the first team, I stand corrected if any of those did go out on loan, but if they did it wouldn’t have been for long
