the difference between 433 and 4141 is waffle thin IMHO - in a 3 man midfield you always have a holding player, and the 2 wide players play the same role in both formations. If i was being pedantic i would agree we are playing more of a 4231 formation.

If Eze was asked to move left to replace Zaha it would free up a more central role for CG, which was my suggestion which you completely ignored.

I'm sure you disagree, but football's all about opinions

I do, and your right.

So what you are saying is to play Eze ( who is back to his best after being woeful from being played out of position by Pat ) out of position to cover Wilf to accommodate Gallagher . Who will prob cost 40 mill and will want north of 100k per week . The mind boggles

Presumably, Doucoure should be in this gap somewhere so as to give us our full complement of 11?

If we have a new manager (Hutter) who prefers playing 5 at the back then I could envisage

Johnstone

New Player, Richards, Andersen, Guehi, New Player

Olise, Doucoure, New Player

Eze

New Player

I’m not convinced that Hutter will be joining us or that we will play with wingbacks. Whatever approach we take the backbone of our team should be: Johnstone, Andersen, Guehi, Doucoure, Olise, Eze. Everyone else is replaceable or squad.

Apologies for edit, got my Slot and Hutter mixed up

FFS please read a post before responding.

I was talking about the Wilf LW position needing to be filled and stated "Eze is the other option but he is looking much better in a No10 role."

I did however, also state we could maybe accommodate both Eze and CG in the team if Eze was moved to LW, as we are clearly keen on CG.

Clearly the preference would be to buy a Wilf replacement, however, we will need other options within the squad to cover injuries/loss of form.

Incidentally PV played Eze in the same position he is in now for the majority of the pre WC period. AN Eze type player will always be hot or cold it is not always the managers fault.

If we were going to offer £40m for a Chelsea player who probably won't want to come to us anyway, I think I'd rather go for Pulisic than Gallagher.

He clearly isn't settled at Chelsea, won't get a look in above their new signings, and looks lively every time he plays us. He has that goal scoring eye and raw pace that could be great as a Wilf replacement.

Very confident he'd get better offers though.

Not a bad call. And try to add Londoner Walker-Peters, the Southampton right back? Young, experienced and offensive.

The last three games of the season Phillips, Rak-Sakyi and O'Brien i believe will be available, i would start them in these games, so we can see how much they have developed.

Roy won't do that until we're over the 40 point mark.

In any event the best kids are out on loan so it won't happen anyway except perhaps for Ahamada.

That would be extremely pessimistic of Roy. Follow the link below. 36 points is the new 40. Plus the shyte goal difference of the bottom 7 teams. We are safe. Today.

And anyway, are you afraid of the kids performing worse than our current weakest links ? One or two dinosaurs need retiring. Maybe we play the kids and we thump somebody 5-0.
