I am not sure I had a recollection 'Word for word', I just had a recollection of the general information. Returning to Joel Ward, I have just remembered that I recall his brother Alex playing for a non-league team quite a few years ago.I cannot remember the exact team but it might have been Pagham in the 'Sussex County League'. Edited by Willo (13 Apr 2023 12.05am) I dare say we can assume it was…you do make me smile Edited by Phil’s Barber (13 Apr 2023 12.14am)

I have seen your local team Crowborough play at the Alderbrook in bygone days and might be able to recall some of the players !!! High time I retired to my bed, goodnight and fond wishes. Alas, I have recently moved house and now live in Surrey, my new ‘local’ teams would be classed as Crawley or Horley.

I know this man has had his critics over the last couple of years and I was one of them but I think this season he has been absolutely brilliant. Hes obviously lost what little pace he had but defensively he's been excellent and I think he's improved massively with the ball this season. For me he's miles ahead of Clyne and it wouldn't bother me if he was our rb next season.

I'm totally mystified. Under Vieira this season, Ward simply looked like his legs had gone; finished. That's not a criticism; I love the guy but he looked to have passed over the Rubicon. Roy's arrival has literally transformed him; he seems to have lost five years overnight and isn't far short of being back to his very best. It's been little short of astonishing.
Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God. |

Yes, I noticed what a good game he had. He worked well with Olise, and a couple of clever passes too.

Really pleased to read positive posts about Ward at last. Too often he has had criticism lobbed in his direction (totally unjustified IMO). The man has been a loyal stalwart and there's no doubt he looks rejuvenated since Roy came back. On the subject of players on the receiving end of criticism, Ayew and Schlupp are subjected to it, so glad they each scored today just to show they're not complete no-hopers.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Ward’s next appearance will be his 300th league appearance for Palace. A great servant to the club and a tremendous achievement.

He played really well yesterday.

It looks like Roy has pushed him 10 yards up the wing with Anderson coming across as cover. Joel can deliver a good pass and Roy must be comfortable that Anderson can cover the space. Maybe it’s only that we pushed forward a bit more yesterday and I’m seeing things.
