Leeds have Liverpool and Fulham after us, so I imagine they'll be very keen for the win whereas we'd probably be happy with the draw. I wonder if that might see us playing deeper than on Saturday and looking to counter (more in the old Roy style). At this stage points are more important than results, so I don't really care how we approach the game if it works.

I might imagine so TL.

Remaining in a purely optimistic space, I can see them giving it a go against us however our defence is solid and with those further up the field spreading their wings somewhat now, as we saw against Leicester, Roy might have the perfect game plan to execute in allowing them to venture forward then moving it quickly towards their goal when we get it.

Either way I do think we have more 'quality' then they do and anything bar the PV 'stroke it around lazily and hope something happens' approach should make for optimism. Leicester were awful, but we had an 8 year (I think) PL record breaking go at their goal which eventually yielded a win. Leeds can be as confident as they like but I imagine we will be too and are the better side.

I suppose the word 'Startlement' will describe my emotions if we secure a victory at Leeds.
It is reported that both Rodrigo and Gnonto will play and they could prove real thorns in our side.
A significant challenge in front of raucous Leeds supporters.

They can add Eze to that sentiment too.

JPM didn't look any different to me, or Ayew. Until the goal neither was having any impact. Eze did look better, definitely, but Leicester didn't lay a glove on him. Other teams this season have really targeted him, using tactical fouls to stop him from making an impact.

I really hope we are seeing a Royvolution, but I want to give it more than one game before getting too excited.

They’ll be a lot better than Leicester, but they’re below us for a reason, they’re not very good, if we attack like we did against the foxes, they won’t be able to cope with us

When I watched Leeds play Wolves I thought they were a bit lucky to win despite scoring four. I thought we were the better side when we beat them under Vieira earlier in the season with our composure on the ball being key. We probably won't match them for energy, but as you say, I think we maybe have a bit more quality on the ball.

I know it's not a popular viewpoint to back Pat, but the fact is Vieira's Palace have already beaten two-thirds of the teams currently below us this season and if Roy does something similar then we are going to stay up comfortably. Roy's previous record is also good in games against teams below us (I think he's won 50%), albeit not quite as good as Vieira's.

Yep I recall the match (as I should do, being there )

If I remember correctly I did not feel at any real unease throughout, thinking 'we're better than they are' and confident of something from the game. Agree also PV has some credit to take there however none to take from 2023. Leeds under new management now and slightly more confident but I still back us on paper (which I rarely do for superstitious reasons if nothing else).

As I recall from the last time we played Leeds, the latter started stronger but faded badly in the second half. They will be much better organised and licking their lips in anticipation of this fixture. Palace need to hold high line, first to the ball, keep possession (rather than wasteful passing) and convert chances. Discipline is key.

Yes, 2023 has been grim. We'll never know if it was just the fixture list that was the issue or whether things had gone wrong. It doesn't matter now. I do think with the money Leeds have spent since promotion they should be doing better than they are. It's like a stuck record where they receive all the plaudits but not the points.

We MUST win to maintain the vital breathing space between ourselves and the pack snapping at our heels. More football like last weekend but with more shots in the net. The team looked fitter and hungrier than they did latterly under PV.
