I loved the football we played under PV last season and I think there was more to it than having CG on board. For me, there was a total lack of replacing him, Kouyate and finding cover for our full backs. We will probably never know if that was as a result of the board failing to invest or lacking confidence in PV to properly manage their investment.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

It’s sad it turned out way it did.As he did change the way we played from previous four bosses. The initial investment allowed PV do change that style. But as we know & press stated Yet as we see other clubs who pumped big money in are severely disappointing supporters Let’s survive this crazy season - hopefully SP & Board will invest & support the new coach. So far 12 coaches in Prem sacked - huge take out -

Thought it was a nice touch from Ray to recognise the job Patrick did in his post match speech.

Roy has class and I'm sure was in the unusual position for a departing manager of hoping his successor did really well. Last season was definitely up there in my one or two favourite seasons of being a Palace fan since the late 70s. Ultimately I think PV was undone by a freakish fixture list, and playing the top sides and losing (narrowly) week after week seemed to suck the life and confidence out of everyone. Hopefully Roy can sustain the bounce-back of life and confidence until the end of the season...and we book him in for the same time next season.

PV had the right intentions, I think most agree with that. But not the experience to get the most out of the resources available to him. I think he needs to carefully consider his support staff when he gets another managerial opportunity.

There seems to be a fair amount of speculation around where GP or BR might go next, but not a dickie bird about poor old PV.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

His heart was in the right place, and last season was mostly very good. I think he would benefit from getting a radically different, and more experienced assistant coach. The rumors about his coaching staff being poor really seemed plausible, given what we saw on the pitch this season. At the end of the day, I can't say I saw anything in him that was a huge strength, in terms of tactics or motivation. But again, his first season, we played with a great style, which was welcome after Roy's turgid last season. In retrospect, maybe it was a result of having Gallagher, or a new manager bounce. We tailed off the second half of last season, and this season was embarrassing at times, and excruciating to watch most times. In eleven League matches after the Bournemouth match, we registered five points. If we are relegated, that's why.

Always difficult to know what exact influence the manager has. We spent 60/70 million before last season with Guehi and Andersen completely changing how we play. Gallagher was incredible but then our strikers were poor. This season, I felt we were slightly lucky to have the points total before the World Cup with 3 narrow home wins. Midfield was a joke with Doucoure replacing 3 starters from last year. Vieira had to have some input here. Yes - we had a tough run but we look so lack lustre. The Leicester game was a marked difference - is that down to the manager or simply playing a poor team? I like playing it out but we are not equipped to play Barcelona/Man City style and I think we should mix it up. Finally, it always amazes me how professional players need so much coaching - is that really tru?
