I accept that lack of investment hasn’t helped, that the boardroom uncertainty hasn’t helped, the players have been lacking and that Vieira seems an engaging character who one would hope to succeed.
However, for all that the results have not been good enough post in recent months.
We caved in at Everton (when Derry apparently had his meltdown) , lost to Forest, lost to Villa, had heavy home defeats to Fulham and Spurs, went out tamely to Southampton in the FA Cup.
It’s not just the recent tough fixtures that have been the problem.
We are at or near the bottom of all the important metrics - goals scored, shots, running , sprints.
The team lack identity, fitness and leadership and in recent months has barely laid a glove on the opposition.
You can’t change the players at this stage, so the only option is to change the manager to try and galvanise a reaction and hopefully produce better performances and results.
We have to acknowledge it wasn’t working and there seems little point in seeking to apportion blame at this stage e.g it’s the board’s or players’ fault.

A s*** show. What an absolute f***ing disgrace of a s*** show. We finally get ourselves an exciting young manager and we f*** him. I've always stood by the board for the job they've done but this is the last straw, we will never get out of this revolving door of bollocks with the current owners.

Feel sorry for Vieira and embarrassed for the fans.

And to add insult to injury? Absolutely classic Parish. "The search for a replacement is underway"
If this has been such a long time coming then WHY have they not found a replacement yet? NOBODY worth his salt is going to touch this club with a barge pole now. Odds on we get Roy or Colin back because that's the only thing we'll be able to manage.

f*** em.

So you’re in the stay camp I guess. Although I’ve spent 1000s and want some return.

harsh? maybe. After a bad run of fixtures, which we all predicted was going to show little return, but losses and abject performances to Villa and Brighton hasn't helped matters.

Showed much promise with the way he 'wanted' to play, but rarely got it to tick, but still you could see what he was attempiting. But it's the performances that worry me. the teams appear to be setup to patient, with no real urgency. I'm sorry, but that's the Management's job to instill. and in this Respect he's failed. all those Flair players should Be able to produce chances or efforts on goal, so for me its a tactics and training issue.

if it were me, right now, even if it's until the end of The season only, I'd be sounding out Bielsa. At least he'll inject some energy and drive into our players, which is exactly what we are lacing right now.
Palace could be exactly what he needs To, if he wants back into the PL.

Spot on here Badger. Vieira has not lasted in any of his jobs and I believe his vision only works with the best players in the world. Jury is out for me on Bielsa but I think we do need someone who is going to get our running stats up.

How can you blame the board / tea lady / bus driver for the crap tactics we have used?
Its their club, the board can hire / fire who they want regardless of what us fans think.

Excellent and accurate summary. Vieira might do well at a club with a higher quality of squad (although it also didn’t work out for him in the USA or at Nice) and the board have not fully supported him with adequate recruitment. But a good manager adapts and learns to work with what he has available. I know it’s 10 years ago, but Pulis got a poorer quality squad to work hard and got results. PV and the staff he surrounded himself with seemed to have run out of ideas and kept repeating the same mistakes and couldn’t be allowed to continue to do so with games running out

"It's the height of madness to keep trying to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result."

If the current line up is the best we have available then what was
Patrick's choice. This PL is madness for all but half a dozen clubs who have limitless money. Many others need a reliable striker but all have been sewn up by top clubs here and in Europe.

Oh dear! A shame he wasn't given more time, but no surprise in the circumstances. As others have already said, the players didn't play their socks off for him and whether that's down to them or PV is difficult to determine.

However it does feel like a panic decision taken without an idea who might replace him, but I guess we don't know what goes on behind the scenes. I can't see many viable options for us at the moment.

Unfortunately PV was not tough enough and he did make some strange team selections and substitutions. The writing's been on the wall for some weeks it has to be said.

St Patrick's Day Massacre. Now for a new beginning - let's hope it's not too late.

He was let down by the board but a good manager adapts to what he has I'm afraid PV looked out of his depth at the end.

By all accounts a thoroughly decent chap but I would rather a bar steward who can win games.

Roy Hodgson was at last home game v Man City, I jokingly said to my brother, if the papers get hold of that 2+2 will be 5, funnier things have happened, personally I think PV going is a wrong move, but in Parish I trust, till end of season we have Freedman, Derry, if still about and Paddy, Paddy was also there with Hodgson, conspiracy theories abound COYP🦅🦅

No its OUR club , the board are just custodians of it

They knew what PV was about when they hired him , sacking him is admitting they got it wrong that maybe when push came to shove they bottled it .

However though PV had my support he's gone , The new guy whoever it is will also get it till he's shown the door around next Christmas .

Not sure what other players you think PV had to choose from . We were under no or very little threat of relegation under Patrick with the remaining fixtures . That has now become a possibility with a change of manager .
And I'll tell you one thing joe , whoever the new manager is Schlupp will be on the team sheet because he is one of the few in the squad that does as he is instructed by the coach

I’m okay with Schlupp on the team sheet when needed, however PV would play him central midfield which we all know isn’t his position. Balance of team and positional team selections is the reason PV is no longer with us. He went backwards and never changed things when it was obvious it wasn’t working. I’m sad he has gone, but understand the decision :-(
