I remember a South Londoner called Paul Caswell making his debut around the end of the season but was a one match wonder. On the side of size Newcastle had a keeper below 6 foot and his speciality was penalty saves.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Good luck kid!

Spot on.
It beggars belief that we get ourself in a situation where this happens. Surely Butland could have been recalled from Man Utd? That is, when he was allowed to go there on loan, why was there not a clause to that effect. Particularly with Johnstone being injured for so long, this was eminently forseeable. The club is not run like a professional outfit.

I was sort of expecting a goalkeeping error and it duly arrived.

He didn't panic and played the rest of the match very well.

He is decent. Good luck to him.
His size re crosses is irrelevant. It’s not like Carlos can’t kick a ball is that adept at leaving his line for crosses etc.

Perhaps should have got a hand to the shot that went in, but otherwise had a very sound game and didn't panic when the usual suicidal back passes came his way.

He looked calmer and more confident that the poor guys in front of him ... not a great outcome results wise, but he should go home holding his head high. He did not let us down .... Bravo Joe!

To be fair..I thought he did incredibly well. At 19 years of age, playing premiership standard football….he really can hold his head up high.

I’m assuming he will be playing against Arsenal on Sunday?

The boy done good. Very confident and assured with his feet (far better than Guaita) and always wanted the ball. Made a particularly good save with the close range header second half. Was getting a lot a stick from the Weed fans and was a high pressure environment.

Got a hand to their goal and probably should have kept it out.

His height worries me. He doesn’t ever look like like he’ll be able to command his box. I’ll be surprised if he ever makes the number 1 position his own, but hope he proves me wrong. He can be very proud of that debut.

He’ll be our number 1 very soon , trust me , his height doesn’t matter we wouldn’t have given a professional contract to a goalkeeper at 19 if we didn’t believe he could do it ,

Either way he’ll do a job , I feel a change of management after Sunday which will probably keep us up , so I don’t think we will be in championship next season
