Just remember if we dribble less and pass more when we are attacking our centre forwards need to learn how to stay on side.

In my view ‘shots on target’ is an overrated statistic.
It includes lame efforts which trickle into the keeper’s arms which were never going to be a goal, and ignores glaring misses which go narrowly wide or efforts that hit the bar or post.
It’s not a true indicator of how threatening or dominant a team has been.

What I am more concerned about is lack of shots and efforts on goal in general.
We don’t have a clinical finisher and probably have a better chance of scoring more goals based on having more efforts on goal.
We need to get more players in the opposition penalty area and take more shots.
You can always get deflections , own goals or miscued shots that fall nicely for one of our other players.
I’m not talking of wild, speculative efforts from impossible angles but shots when in range of the goal.
Often our players in this position pass sideways or backwards rather than taking a shot.
This is one of the reasons that Gallagher was so refreshing as he was always willing to try for goal.

This post is spot on

Easily resolved, just pass backwards all the time, no offsides then

Yes I agree, but this goes back to the disconnect we have between our forwards and the rest of the team. We have no real attacking midfielders who will bust a gut to get on the end of any knock downs since Gallagher left. His goals came primarily because he was willing to attack the edge of the box and pick up scraps.

This is where Eze should be but save for his recent header he has not really joined the attack and threatened as much as he should do. You could say the same about Schlupp and Ayew, there is just very little threat in general. PV needs to do some serious work on our midfield to get this sorted.

I think Vieira prioritised defence after the Spurs s***show. And from a staying in the league perspective, it was a great decision that he executed well. Lower the good chances we were giving away so easily and rebuild the attack when he felt the time was right.

It's easy to forget how brittle we looked v them and Fulham.

His instincts are not Royball.
