Arsenal ST holder here. Lokonga started off really well tbh, come here with a recommendation from Henry as Belgium U21 coach at the time. At the time one of his major attributes that stood out was his precision eye of a needle passing and Arteta played him higher up in the Xhaka role - most of the fanbase thought we were on to something. I genuinely don't know what happened to the kid, ever since the documentary and his showering down from Nketiah, he has been on the periphery of the first team. When we've needed him to come in and step up for 90 minutes to rest Partey or Xhaka he's often been hooked after 60. You can see Arteta has lost faith in him, kids lost confidence and I'm not sure this big club environment suits him tbh - I was at the City away game and he totally ignored the fans and walked off at FT - his first touch as a second half sub that game bounced off his shin three times and it pretty much sums his career up. I think the loan to you guys will be interesting, a tighter knit community with an arm around the shoulder in Patrick might get the best out of him but wouldn't have a career with us at present - first step out of the door. Good luck. Edited by IanWright179 (01 Feb 2023 12.37am)

I know the logic of it but I'm fed up with being a training club for other club's players.

Yes, leaves us in the Gallagher zone. I agree AS, but I guess this whole loan business is down to a lack of purchasing power. 'Make do and mend' an' all that.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

We just have to hope that, if he does well, he wants to stay In circumstances like this (Arsenal are buying big, he's not part of their plans etc) that if we see something in him, an we just offer them a fair price and make it perm. Even at the 10-15m mark its not crazy money for a young kid with good pedigree. Obviously simpler in reality

Preferable for me as I hope a PV arm around him, some first team action and new surroundings can bring out the best for the rest of this season. Optimistic perhaps but that's the hope.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Hopefully he’ll improve under our maestro’s tutelage to a level that works for us but not quite the Premier Champions (maybe).
