Before it's confirmed that, as usual, we've signed no-one, but have sent some of the young 'uns out on loan.

it inevitable

The narrative is already out there that we are looking to the summer

saving the pennies for Wilfs replacement. which wont address the other shortfalls in the team

1. Save the pennies which may not even be there.

2. Sign a League One striker for a fiver and unveil him as though he's Haaland - said player then makes one 6 minute appearance before going on to a career in lower leagues or is injured for all but 20 mins of time here.

3. Ignore the fact we have no midfield, are poor at full back and can't score goals.

4. Pray for an avoidance of relegation + desperately support any team playing S'ton, B'mouth, Forest, Wolves and Everton.

5. Reduce quality of hot dogs, water down beer slightly more and sell everything for 50p dearer.

Seems a pretty believable script.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Plenty of space being made with loans out, including Butland, so let’s hope it’s a case of that space is created for reinforcements to a mid field that is just not balanced well enough to cover in defence or support a striker to be prolific in scoring goals.
A negative for most ,I know, but if it should develop into Championship football for at least a while, the boys could all come into their own, but before that they all need sharpening up ,and only playing in the league regularly will get that.

If thats how you feel about Palace why bother?
Some people just cant see how far we have come since promotion never mind since the last owners took over. You talk about relegation yet we haven't been in a relegation battle for 5 years. Stop looking down Mr glass half empty. Look at how far we have come and realise the higher we go the harder it becomes to compete and stay there.
THATS the reality

Gawd!!

It’s a very light hearted and purposefully, (intended to be) comically pessimistic post.

‘If that’s how you feel about things…’ lol

Calm your pants.

I don’t expect us to sign anyone of note, we may get a bit lucky. I would expect us to make an effort for perhaps one and whilst not impossible, I’m certainly not expectant. It may very well be a case of us ‘looking’ but the right player with the right deal just not appearing. If I had my choice of any one position, it would be a midfielder to support and compliment Doucoure in the starting XI.

We don’t have the money for big name or multiple ‘starting Xl’ incomings, the hot dogs are lessening in quality and upping in price plus we do need reinforcements… THAT’S THE REALITY.

I don’t expect that to be fixed overnight but a discussion or mild joke around such things should be kosha, especially since the ‘most virtuous and wildly optimistic palace fan prize’ has stopped being awarded.

On second reading I saw the humour in your post. The problem is that there are a few knocking around in a similar vein that are deadly serious !

And you don’t have to pretend you are Palace’s greatest supporter by posting about a past which we are all aware of. If you want to rest on your laurels then fine, but not everyone does.

More or less everyone posting here has recognised that we have only been 2 or 3 first 11 players away from a very competitive team. Surely the management can see this and the owners can see they wouldn’t have to break the bank to achieve this. But, for some unknown reason we continue to ignore our glaring weaknesses and revert to type by hoping we get through the season with the same old faces.

It’s almost like we celebrate and encourage mediocrity at our club. Dougie’s big challenge in the summer was surely to find midfielders to replace our known problems. Even a couple of loans would have helped. If we fail to fill these holes over the Jan window and it results in our move to the relegation zone then I for one would be furious because it is so easily observed and rectified.

I do recognise it can be easily missed TBF. I just really find quite strange and annoying the jumping on others so aggressively for very little especially when intended as a lark!

As a palace fan and season ticket holder plus user of this forum for some time, I don’t think I’ve ever sincerely moaned about the club. At the very least I think it futile!

The football however, a very different matter. I will whine… hysterically so! That’s my right and shoes I care

Anyhow, I, personally, find it unlikely but would welcome Danny Ings much as I would prefer PV give JPM or Edouard a run to definitively prove they’re ‘not up for it.’ One may just prove they are!
