in respect of their fans booing their manager yesterday ,i was sat directly next to their fans and yes they were singing your football is sh** at their manager during the game but when he came over to them after the game and applauded them they clapped him back and sang his name, how hypocritical is that , but its not much different from some of the gumph on here where a manager who rebuilt a side last year took us to mid table and a cup semi ,and has us mid table this year , is being called to be replaced by Dyche or even Roy ,are you guys having a laugh the only good thing about Covid is that i didnt have to renew my season ticket for a year and a half watching the most mundane tedious football ever[/quote

Find your comments on Roy's tedious tactics tad disrespectful as whilst I agree with you on style of play what options or funds did he have given the limited ability of the squad What he did achieve was not only premiership stability but 100%effort and commitment and a style of play in which every player knew the role they had to play.Currently I believe if PV or replacement can achieve the same commitment and adopt a style /tactics that all the squad can adjust too then the extra ability should achieve the desired result.I agree going back to Roys tactics wouldn't work with the current squad as no Delaney,Dann or jedinak to set example that others followed.Really do not feel this tip tappy passing from back is working and sometimes the long ball flick on header for runners (aka the magic hat wearer) may be a route one option provided Mateta can leap as currently we have 7/8 passes before Andersen launches it.

What has to change? Straight off, work rate. The next few games are going to determine Vieira's management spell; we'll see which players are going to roll up their sleeves when the going gets tough. The least ground covered stat is totally damning and sums up the lackadaisical attitude on display.

Not vieras fault we've only got one midfielder who's actually good enough to play, we need to buy.

I think whoever was in charge of contracts /buying players messed up big time last summer when not enough quaility replacements were brought in for those we lost especially in midfield where we are a poor immitation of past seasons .

The weak midfield has left our non tackeling defence exposed and put a burden on our 'flair' players they niether want not are capeable of .
As I have alluded elsewhere we may be just a couple of players short in the middle of the park that solves the current depression

Good point. Minimum should be 3 new players at around £15 - 20 million a piece in the summer. There would be at least 3 players a season in the 25 that need replacing. Doucoure, Guehi and Andersen all cost around that. The talk in the summer was we had a look but nothing materialised. I am praying that the recent talk about only loanees this window is just a front. The underwhelming summer window is really hurting now, particularly as you say in midfield.

In the final analysis the club has spent over £100 Mill since Mr Hodgson departed, we have to adhere to the PL Profit and Sustainability rules and we don't have a bottomless pit to delve into and 'Splash' on players.

If you think of the money we have payed and the wages we put them on with almost no return, Kouyate, McCarthy, Sakho, Townsend, Tomkins, Benteke, Luka, PVA, 113 million, return on these 4.6M, also Meyers 120k a week, we are still paying for not balancing the books, at least Olise, Andersen, Guehi, Eze have sell on value, but it has taken the board and investors a long time to understand it

Absolutely the crucial factor in our decline.
Can't blame our misfiring strikers if they don't get the service!

This was clearly the strategy agreed on between chairman and manager (I'm thinking Pardew in particularl) when they decided the step toward survival and moving up the PL ladder was to get in a few seasoned pros on silly wages. As you suggest, we now find ourselves in a bit of a tricky situation as we attempt to be more sustainable. I wouldn't entirely blame PV for what is happening on the pitch. We don't know what was discussed during his interview process, or if he was promised funding.

Only 3 players who played yesterday I would consider premier quality Zaha and the 2 centre backs, and I doubt none of them will be playing for palace next season
