To be fair to Vaibow and other posters - it is not about playing like City every week.
We have our own standards and our performances of late have fallen well below those standards.
Losing I can accept - it is the way that we lose that worries me.
PV was a combative midfield player with fire in his belly - that does not seem to be a directive given to some of our players.

Good post, agree.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I don't see that PV has '' lost '' the dressing room.

What I do see is an unbalanced squad of players, several of them who are triers but way past their best, combined with some promising younger players that are desperately in need of some on field leadership.

Yes, we lack leadership quality. Someone who sets the example week in week out, is respected, and who is not afraid to ruffle feathers.

I’m not sure it’s a case of Vieira having lost the dressing room.
I occasionally read footballer autobiographies and a common theme seems to be that players who are continually overlooked by managers are understandably unhappy and may spread some poison, there are manager’s favourites (often nicknamed ‘son of the manager’) and those players who are indifferent to who the manager is.

As many have observed on this site we played our best football under Vieira when he was able to field a midfield containing Gallagher , McArthur and Kouyate.
That was a midfield full of energy and zest which meant that we were competitive in every game .
We no longer have this option and I can’t understand why Vieira has continued with his 433 approach when we clearly don’t have these type of players in the squad.
He has on occasions used Olise, Eze and Doucoure in midfield which must be the least competitive midfield in the Premier League.
It will work and be pleasing on the eye on occasions but is destined not to get results as opposition runs won’t be tracked, second balls won’t be won and there will be a lack of the necessary sheer physical intensity .
Vieira was a fantastic player over a long career winning most things and like many on here I can’t understand why he persists with square pegs in round holes.
In the absence of decent midfield options (which I don’t think Vieira can be held responsible for) in my view it would be sensible to play some combination of 442/451 so at least we had the numbers in midfield to compete.
You could even make an argument for 352 if we had proper wing backs which I don’t believe we have.

Regulars Guaita,Ward,Clyne,Schlupp, Ayew and Zaha are in their 30s.
Milivojevic who has mostly been on the bench is in his 30s.
Tomkins who played against Fulham is in his mid-30s.
Overall we don't have a youthful squad !

How many of them were bought in the last 2 years ? Do you expect us to transform the whole squad in 2 transfer windows ?

I was merely highlighting the fact that a number of players are in the twilight of their careers in response to a comment about a "Young team".

Zaha, Clyne, Sclupp, Ayew are 30-31
Ward 33
Guaita 35 not unknown for a keeper.

In their 30s paints a different picture than saying they’re 30 years. You need a balance of experience and youth.

With the greatest of respect the players you highlighted are in their 30s.You omitted Milivojevic who is also in his 30s as is Tomkins.

I accept the argument of an amalgam between experience and youth.
My sentiments were merely in response to comments about a "Young team", my words were not laced with any criticism.

I think the issue is that we have players in their 30's that are past their best.

A blend of youth and experience is no bad thing, but of our senior players only Zaha cuts it regularly at this level.

Then you mention players in the squad, we have a pretty young team. Eduoard, olise, eze, doucoure, Mitchell, guehi, andersen, 7 outfield players who would start most games even mateta is young.

If we are going to sack the manager every time we have a bad spell we will go through about 6 managers a season.

The other issue is that we have players NOT in their 30s that are past their best.

Of course there are young players in the team but based on my interpretation of the comments made by a member, I highlighted the fact that we have quite a number of players in their 30s and in the twilight of their careers.

For avoidance of doubt I repeat that at this juncture I see no justification in calling time on PVs tenure at our club.
