if you read some of the stuff online about this gig, it is apparently the modern version of that, apparently very lax on checking tickets as they are all QR codes...not unexpected to be fair...would be a pity for it to shut down was one of my fav places back in the day Edited by thegreatlardino (22 Dec 2022 7.05pm) Certainly goner cost them some dough. Shut and all income gone. Maybe best use their loaf next time and pay for some plod to help like at football. Especially as you’ve got a ferel mob threatening to do this online.

They cut corners, and essentially fed into a 'chinese whisper' that getting in was a formality. They may hve saved money, but it cost lives. That seems to be the way of the world of late.

The Times had a big piece on what appears to have had happen. A bit of perfect storm with ticketing fraud playing a major part. Apparently, the scam goes that tickets are purchased via fraudulent/stolen credit card details. These are then sent our as E tickets with QR codes. These tickets then get sold on. The credit cards are then recorded as being dodgy so the QR codes get cancelled. But people still turn up expecting to get into the concerts. Throw in other factors such as the numbers of security being down on the night itself and the cold weather and suddenly everything starts to go horribly wrong.

Throw in other factors such as the numbers of security being down on the night itself and the cold weather and suddenly everything starts to go horribly wrong. That would make sense. In the past I've bought tickets on ebay, third party sites or even mates of mates when sold out through official channels. All legit as it turns out but you never know. When it's the last show of an artist I can see how unscrupulous types could try to take advantage of that, and why those there wouldn't leave if many or most thought they had legit tickets.. A sad situation.

A sad situation. It was a factor. Supposedly as well the Security was down significantly in terms of numbers compared to the previous two nights. Makes me wonder if there had been grief at those and people just decided that it was not worth it?
