Like all the other players didn't improve under PV but looks to be getting back to business with Roy. I think he's a fine left back. Has some mistakes in him like most players but Palace will generally find that vs the likes of your arsenal's, man city and man u. I think he's at an age he can still.improvr quite a bit and works his socks off

I think that's an insane POV.

Not the best player on the planet, but works his socks off, has tightened up some mistakes.

Not sure why he is getting a hart time

I actually think he's a good defensive left back. He's fast, not easy to get by and holds his own against many of the best wingers. He'll make the occassional mistake and be out of position, but not too many. He also links up well with Zaha.

However, he really needs to work on his crosses. They've been very poor. If you look at the last 2 games I don't think he had one good cross, they're either over everyone or go out of play. Nothing even close to playable.

Biggest criticism I have of Mitchell is that he doesn't have that sixth sense for danger. He regularly loses his man at the far post at the first hint of movement.

Got nowhere near Bamford for his goal yesterday, March against Brighton as two of the recent examples.

If he can sort that out, he'll be good enough. I don't see him adding to his England caps anytime soon but he's young enough that it's possible. Needs a coach to really focus on him for a season - doesn't feel like he's had that attention this year.

Little attention given as PV and his coaching team were busy elsewhere eating pies.

I am curious to know other peoples views on TM. In my view he is a massive weak link in the side and offers little in defence and even less going forward. He just appears to be really out of his depth and teams target him. The one good attribute he did have was his pace but even that appears to have left him.

I really hope we are targeting a new left back come the summer.

Agree that he is a weak link and tbh, I have never rated him.

He is simply not Premier League standard and has been very poor since his bizarre call-up for England.

Skinned far too easily, gives the ball away far too much, very little attacking output and responsible for way too many goals conceded (Leeds on Sunday being yet another example).

We desperately need an upgrade in both full-back positions.

I have mentioned this before but since we let PVA go (Mitchell at the time was competing with him for the left back spot) we have not had a dedicated left back cover. In all teams you need competition for places, to help keep players from resting on their laurels.
I would argue that whilst Mitchell has not regressed during this period he has equally not shown the sort of improvement you would expect from a young defender.
We need to address this in the summer by getting in another left back.

He's good but still think we need an upgrade

I agree. He does the same thing time and time again. It’s as though he only has three types of kicks in him. Yes, he tries hard but his football intelligence is bad.

He has costs us countless goals because of his poor marking.

I have no idea why he was marking Bamford in the 1st place.

The goal was straight out of a training ground routine, perhaps Leeds had deployed this before,it had been noticed as part of the analysis and Mitchell's role was purely to block the run of Bamford. All speculation!

What is it with folk on here picking holes in our players? Give the boy a break. We all know CPFC is not flush with money so we can't afford elite players.

Mitchell may have weaknesses in his game but, he's still only 23 and, on the whole, he is a reasonably solid left back.

Like a fine wine he'll improve with age.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
