Those weren't serious suggestions. They were a reference to where the suggested path might lead, a comment on an attitude and a general direction.

History teaches us lessons. Sometimes people forget, or ignore them.

When somebody picks your posts apart you were being sarcastic but when you do it to others they have written it ad verbatim iyo. Strange!

No-one picks apart sarcasm. It's just a parody.

I can recognise it, but rarely see it coming my way. If it does I enjoy as much as anyone else.

It seems to me that, at least some, others cannot.

Talking of 'cuts', I've seen the following hairdressers in my time:

Herr Kutz (Plymouth)
The Cutty's Sharp (Greenwich)
Sherlock Combs (Thame)
Julias Scissors (Birmingham)

(Yes it was Julias not Julius and - unforgivably - not Julia's ).

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Dear oh dear, you really are a one-off. You tell us that your earlier suggestions were referring to where the OP's ideas might lead. But you also say, no,no, I didn't really mean that, those ideas of mine weren't meant to be serious.

You may well be a clear thinker, but that's certainly not evident in your writing.

So scotlands health secretary says that England is responsible for the cost of living crisis. This being a response when faced with a strike by the NHS up there whereby he can’t afford their demands. Firstly I would say feck off and secondly what will they do when they’re independent!

That's amusing

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

They will still blame England.

Just noticed this!

Anyone who has read my contributions here over the years knows the sentiments expressed in the original response are at right angles to my own. Therefore they would understand my tongue was firmly in my cheek when writing them.

So you cannot have read many, or paid that much attention to them, to reach the conclusion you did. You have been here a long time, but maybe don't read to this section too often.

Whenever I read one of your intended "put-downs", which are, for me, not either amusing, accurate or cutting, but just rather juvenile and consequently pathetic, I wonder what possible motivation you can have for them.

You seem obsessed with saying I am "wrong" in my opinions, whereas the truth is that opinions are never right, or wrong! They are simply opinions of what someone believes to be true. That is so blindingly obvious it ought not be necessary to state it in every post! Really indisputable facts are much, much rarer than opinions. That I express my opinions with certainty and vigour, and criticise others, doesn't change that. It's all part of the examination of the arguments, in an endeavour to discover the truth.

Ad hominems are the refuge of those with nothing to say.
